Wow, scan envy. My ACE collection only stretches to 2.5gb

(I have 55 issues, is that all of them?)
As for Mega Upload, do you need a membership to upload?
EDIT: Sorry, Jez. Your thread has been unwittingly sabotaged! I say we move the general magazine scan discussion to here:

Have you visited that AF wiki page yet? They are all links to the actual scans, not uploaded into AF Wiki.

If there is someone here who is doing the Wiki, they can then link to this. Wing, I think if you like the Wii, why cant the ST Format Sites links be added. There is at least 2 sites with ST Format info, and a guy here wanting to do a new one.
Not entirely sure what you are talking about wing and wii.

May be a Brit joke ??
Anyway, the Magazines section already has 4 links for ST Format websites. So a fifth one is certainly no issue.

I think that the modus operendi is to get the magazines scanned in. I have some in the attic, but I am only willing to do some if other do as well, and I want to know what has been done already?
At least 4-5 already done. And there will be a bunch of them come Dec when MugUK get the lot of magazines.

StickHead wrote:Great idea to put a progress list on the wiki, wongck, but we need to separate that table up into 'complete scans (pdf)' and 'HTML version' to make it really useful. Also a column called 'in progress' where people could put their names to tell others they plan to scan an issue would help avoid people doubling up. Also, lets not just limit it to STF; there are many super ST mags with lots of great content.
Then we would need a central hub where everyone could upload their .pdf files via ftp and proliferate them (proliferation is the best preservation

). We can't do this on the wiki, as the bandwidth costs would be unfair to the decent folk who pay the hosting for this forum.
RE: OCRing and HTMLing mags on my old website: This was done so that they could be viewed on Atari machines connected to the internet. Crazy, I know, but they looked pretty sweet on a Falcon.

I have added Format for HTML, PDF or GIF or whatever there is.
I also added a status, the 4 of your's are status = completed. Other can be pending, to do or whatever state it may be.
Unfortunately, you need to talk to Dal about uploading stuff to the wiki.
BTW, the users of this forum shared in paying for the Forum/wiki hosting....

They have some scans of STart magazine, which I believe is an American magazine. The scans aren't of exemplary quality, but readable.
A quick shufty through my hard drives has revealed complete .pdf collections of ACE magazine which I know has ST content. Bonus!
They also have STF #39! That saves a night's worth of scanning!
Good find!!
OK, I will add them into the "Magazine Scans" section of the wiki to night.

Can these be uploaded into some FTP site?
Once you done that, I will make the page for them in the Wiki.
Megauplod kind of sucks.
Thanks.

I also have 55 issues that come to 4.10GB, with each pdf issue being around 60MB on average.

Hi guys!
Finally got round to up'ing the Falcon 030 full STF Review
http://www.hollinsheads.com/stf/softhar ... -2764.html as well as game reviews of Prince of Persia, Stunt Car Racer (thanks to the Joy of Sticks for the text) and Rick Dangerous.
Rick is an odd one actually as STF never reviewed this game upon its original release. No idea why this was as Amiga format did a full 2 page review. Can only imagine STF didn't get sent a copy for review and were too far up their own arses to go out and buy a copy? I think something similar must have happened with Operation Wolf, which was previewed in a late copy of STAF, but never reviewed in STF. At the end of the day, these were huge releases for the ST and needed reviewing even if it meant buying copies. STF really didn;t help themselves sometimes and I think were trying too hard to not be a games magazine.
Anyhow, they eventually reviewed Rick in STF34 when it was release on budget. Ho hum.

So much so that they could never help themselves but refer to the
Amoeba Games Machine instead of Amiga.
I remember at school me saying to mates: "But it's got MIDI ports!"
They'd respond: "So why is the sound on Turrican/Lotus/Xenon lame compared to the
Amoeba?"
Me: "Err... MIDI musicians don't utilise the YM2149 soundchip!"
Etc.
I loved my ST, don't get me wrong, but I don't think ST Format's patronising stance re: the
Amoeba Games Machine helped any!

Maybe a bit late on this, but I did try to collect the wonder discs some years ago and gave up, but the only ones i could find were uploaded to the stos site.

I have a load of them. Not sure if I have them all - they're packed away at the moment, but I can probably have a look over the weekend and compare against the ones you have.

Yeah, always on the look out to fill in the blanks, I don't check the forum much, so send me a PM if you have any luck, theres a few bits in the "incomming" folder to go online at some point, (mental note to self to re-do the site!).

I could photograph the images of wonder disks 64-74.
I MSA'd the disks as I didn't read your site properly thinking the disk images were missing rather than just the pics. I knew there must be a reason I hadn't done them before now...
In other news I just got a bunch of ST User disks, but I think these are all online already, will check & if not image 'em' *
* no need they are all on zogging hell

Quick update to let you know I’ve made a couple of improvements to STFormat.com…
There’s now a full index of all STF game reviews – not just those with on-line content.
http://www.stformat.com/games/index_all.html
The full index page is about 300k though, so may take a few seconds to load

I really need to figure out how to do this with a back-end database!
The full games index has a (java script) search box too and you can sort by column. I think since the LGD went down there’s no other on-line index of all STF game reviews??
Latest game reviews incidentally are Sim City!
http://www.stformat.com/games/games-1993.html
and Rainbow Islands
http://www.stformat.com/games/games-1969.html
I also recently upped reviews of Paintpot & Canvas
http://www.stformat.com/softhards/softhards-642.html
Lastly, I also created a Facebook page for STFormat.com where I publish every time I update the site – just search for ST Format in FB to get the updates as I make them.

Not great... why/when did it go down??
