Atari TT -- STRAM to 10MB?

Post by MegaSTEarian »

Searched into that forum, I only saw topics 5-6 years old about it.

Is there anyone who can update a 2MB STRAM board to 8MB, for a total of 10MB STRAM?

I have two boards I would like to get them updated, both with TT without the CPU daughterboard.

I think Lynxman sells a kit for certain models. Also Frank Lukas might do this for people, and also the guys behind the Thunderstorm project will do this if you ask (they did mine) Are you in Germany? If so you are lucky as all of these people are living there too I think.

When you have a SMD Version I can do the upgrade for you. If it is a older DIL version ask Lynxman and send it to him ...

Is it just a chip swap? Mine aren't SMDs, so I could probably try myself (not sure if just adding sockets would make it so a hard drive won't fit any more though).

Yes

Remove the old 256Kx4bit chips (TMS44C256-10).
Install new 1Mx4bit chips (TMS44400DM-10).
Switch the configuration headers to 8 MB.

I don't think I have the soldering skills to do that?
