HighWire 0.2.1 is released

Post by GokMasE »

Hiya,

In case someone haven't noticed already, there is a new HighWire release available. For those who did not know, HighWire is an open source project aiming to supply the Atari community with a good web browser.

The most important addition to the new version is certainly the support cookies, due to which a lot of sites will be able to function much better. The cache management has been refined a bit as well, partly to prepare for some important changes in this area further down the road, but also in order to sort out some related bugs.

Thanks to contributions from Zorro, a bug that would cause a crash HighWire when loading 24bit PNGs has been fixed. At the same time, support for 1/2/4bit grayscale PNGs was added. As a bonus, we can even see some speed improvements
for interlaced images!

While it is not really new, the dedicated STiNG overlay was added after the 0.2.0 release, and should make HighWire perform better on any setup using STiNG.

You'll find the HighWire website here: http://highwire.atari-users.net

Regards,

Joakim

PS! Don't forget to send feedback! Report bugs, send suggestions, etc, etc! DS.

Wow, so this is a net browser for use with actual STs?
That is a nice idea, does it come with a free ST?

:(
