Wizball on ST more difficult than other versions?
I was playing Wizball (cracked copy) with a friend and we were surprised that when you complete a level so does no enemies appear on it again.. wich means no more colours to collect and this forces you to be very strategic in wich order the you complete the levels.
And by looking at longplays of other versions of Wizball so do they not behave like this? In both Amiga and C64 versions so can you collect colours in levels that are completed?
Is this correct beahvior for the ST version? I mean it is not a "copy protection" that was not removed and makes the game more difficult for the ST version?
C-64 longplay:

You should run STX images in Steem . There are 2 versions on Atarimania, and both are certainly OK, with good images and supported protection type - I tested them.
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

In a (german) review of the Atari ST conversion of Wizball the tester mentioned that the gameplay is indeed harder than the C64 original.Stefan jL wrote:I mean it is not a "copy protection" that was not removed and makes the game more difficult for the ST version?

Re: Wizball on ST more difficult than other versions?
I am not good at playing Wizball... i can only play as the helper (catelite) so i can't play and check the STX images.
Now i don't know what exactly the german review say but i know the Amiga/ST version are slightly different to the C64.
Anyway i checked the manual of both Amiga/ST and C64 versions and it say "....and when you complete a landscape all aliens disappear, that is except on Level 8"
So why does those two (Amiga/C64) longplays show that enemies still appear on a completed level?
Since Wizball is such a well known game so was i expecting to find a strategy guide explaining wich order you should complete the levels when googling but there is no such thing.

Re: Wizball on ST more difficult than other versions?
Was it a trained version in the longplay of the Amiga version?
AFAIK Peter Johnson did the ST and Amiga version so surely it the same code.

So let it be written, So let it be done. I'm sent here by the chosen one.

No i don't think the Amiga version in the video is trained... the cubex55 channel do not allow games with modified gameplay AFAIK.
But it would be strange if the ST version is the only version that play as it says in the manual

Just to meantion (not checked close to it).
There is as far I think, atleast 4 Different releases of Wizball for ST.
Not sure if there is any changes in the gameplay.
I can upload these if wanted, if there is anybody who are intressted to inspect closer

Yes! I'm looking for the version where character can move in the air (like in c64 edition).
Here the video:

I bought a 1040STFM "Superpack" with Wizball and that version certainly behaved like the video you linked to. I played Wizball a lot back then.tito76 wrote:Yes! I'm looking for the version where character can move in the air (linke in c64 edition).

Re: Wizball on ST more difficult than other versions?
It would be good if someone post image of Wizball, version from Superpack - but what Superpack ? At Atarimania is something called so, without images, and there is no Wizball in it, according to disk shots included.
I see many diverse cracks in Marcer DVD? but who knows which is version where character can move in air ?

Re: Wizball on ST more difficult than other versions?
I still have some of those Superpack floppies at home. Not sure if Wizball is one of them, but I will check.
Maybe there is more than one "Superpack". The one I got contained at least the following games:
Wizball, Arkanoid 2, Buggy Boy, Xenon, Chopper X, Starquake, Black Lamp, Thundercats, Beyond the Ice Palace, Test Drive, Zynaps, Return to Genesis, Ikari Warriors and a few more. And "Organiser", which I actually used for a while.

I had a look for this disk today as I'm sure I have it. Couldn't lay my hands on it though.
STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

Re: Wizball on ST more difficult than other versions?
Had a quick look at the floppies I've got in my "office". Could only find Eddie Edwards Superski and Zynaps/Genesis from the Superpack collection. Eddie Edwards had errors on some tracks. I don't think they're protected, but I could be wrong. Will have a look in the attic later, I got some boxes with floppies there as well.
Edit: Eddie Edwards is broken, game doesn't load.

And here's the Superpack edition of Wizball and Arkanoid II. I actually had some backups that were still working
These disks were not protected, this is just a zip of the files on this disk. Both games loads and runs on my STM.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
