ST High Res - list
Hi
Apologies in advance if this topic exists somewhere (I’m almost sure it must but my search term skills clearly aren’t very good!)..
Is there a list of games and applications that work in ST High resolution? Looking to add some software to my STBook
I imagine applications are nearly all of them…? so maybe games and demos would be a better list?
Any thoughts appreciated

I remember seeing a list on the forum. But a more complete list can be found on atarimania

Re: ST High Res - list
Next question…! Is there a sub list (or way of filtering on Atari mania) for the monochrome games that are also hard drive installable?! Having looked at the list I realize most are .STX which is no good on an STBook that doesn’t have a floppy drive!

Re: ST High Res - list
Several of them may still work on HD. You can try in an emulator (e.g. Hatari) moving the game files from a floppy to HD, eject the floppy and see whether the game works from HD. If does, you can copy it to real HW.
If you really like the game, but it does not work from HD (on emulator), and it's not a protected commercial one, one option is just fixing the game.
Trace with Hatari ("--trace os_base") what files game accesses with hard-coded "A:" drive prefix, use a binary editor to search for those names in the binary, and just remove the drive prefix from the file names (and pad extra space at end of file name with zeroes). If file name includes also path ("\"), remove also that if you do no want game to be hard coded to drive root.
(Do this on renamed copy of the program file, so that it's easy to test old and new version to see they work the same.)

Falcon, Atari 520ST, 520STFM, 1040STE, Mega, TT and more PC's than I care to count and an assortment of 8 bit micros (nearly forgot the Psion's).
