.PAC compressed image format

Post by darklight »

Does anyone know what extension / accessory would make compressed .PAC files out of full screen bitmaps, that could be used in STOS?

Or does anyone know the file format of such files?

AFAIK, STAD was the only program that used that format. And it is only designed for monochrome.

You will find routines both for packing and depacking that format here

One of those situations where after weeks of searching, I answer my own question just after posting. It turns out, the compact accessory included with STOS has a 'save as binary' option (instead of the more commonly used 'save as memory bank') - this option uses the .PAC file extension :)

So instead of:

load "SCREEN.MBK",6 : unpack 6,physic

you would use:

bload "SCREEN.PAC",6 : unpack 6,physic
