It‘d probably a good idea to disable the account creation that currently allows anyone to create accounts with full edit rights and w/o email-check etc. Iirc this was disabled when I looked into the wiki last year (aka updated&fixed it), only forum accounts could be converted into Wiki accounts. There seems to be an (un)healthy and steady flow of new spam-accounts minute by minute: http://www.atari-wiki.com/index.php/Sp ... m&limit=50

Alas, the relentless SPAM attack continues unabated while I watch and can’t really do much (as I am just an ordinary user on the Wiki)... :(

I have disabled the site for the time being. Not sure when I'll get around to looking at it as I'm stacked at the moment.

Can't the wiki be put on read-only mode?
if possible, at least a lot of useful information can be accessed.

Until the wiki is fixed, I have re-activated the read-only mirror which was setup in 2018:

I guess at this point it's likely that the Wiki isn't coming back, due to the spam problems discussed above?

From what I remember Dal saying a few years ago, it was continually being spammed.
Main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - digging up bits from my past: Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide). I host a C64 Radio Show for a mate, Max Hall, called the Chip SID Show.

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in for Word 2007 upwards. A toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Is the user database is the same as for the Atari-Forum? If yes maybe would be possible to grant write access only for accepted users?

Thought this was all sorted. I've just logged into the wiki here and it's fine (i think?)

Are you really sure? The create account page is still wide open and allows anyone to edit anything (http://www.atari-wiki.com/index.php?tit ... ateAccount) - which was the problem in the first place; apparently this was newly introduced after the last update, see viewtopic.php?p=402153#p402153

Probably just a matter of time until some scan script finds that page and starts breaking the wiki again. It‘d be very nice to have the wiki back again, but for that this page really has to be disabled.

EDIT: a script apparently has started generating spam accounts right after the wiki was enabled again this night. And of course the wikis content is being altered, too http://www.atari-wiki.com/index.php/Spe ... entChanges

usually, it is not. phpbb and mediawiki use it's own database

I have written a pm to Dal, i would take care of the wiki, as i do at the german atari wiki. but i think the pm has gone to nirvana since it doesnt show up in "sent messages" or "outbox".

However, i've reverted the changes. Mainpage ist normal again.

That's far from all the changes - it's under constant attack from spam bots by the look of the "recent changes" link above.

Is there no way to change a way of login method? I mean e.g. only for authorized Atari-Forum members?
