How awesome, I completed the Spectrum version a few times.
I see on the YouTube vid there is a typo for the name Johann Strauss

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
many thx, i think i came to the level of the return of the kong beast on the MSX,viking272 wrote:How awesome, I completed the Spectrum version a few times.

games for that time is just so damn hard, when testing some of the levels, i think i use 20 lives to get through

thanks for the typo thing, its a little embarrassingly, an other person on a spectrum forum have also inform me about it

btw since you are a hardcore MM man, then maybe you could try it out and let me know, how it stack up to the original(Game play), if you like

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
Yes of course, happy to help!
I will send you a PM. It's been a few years since I played it (15?) but I found my old rubber keyed Spectrum in the loft and it still worked. So I played Manic Miner, Chaos and Atic Atac!

i tried h.e.r.o on a MSX emulator a couple of years ago, the scary part was if I relaxed, the game movning was still in my body, and after 1 or 2 games i could reach beyond level 15

Many thx Steve you have been a great help on this trip
when this is finish, then no more project for a while.
only thing that come to my mind would be a version of H.E.R.O

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
Hi, I forgot to say in my feedback that I used to do the 1st level with minimal movements/stopping and maximum efficiency. The game plays pretty much the same as I remember but can I complete it in the style I did before!! Nope!! Maybe tomorrow night

I first made one without drums, but AtariCrypt thought it was dull, so i did this one instead of, but i had my doubt about it, I am not 100% satisfied with it. but it look like that i will keep using this one, from the feedback i have received

but i was also hard to do it, using only 2 channels

and also have to have a good look at ST paint and also Project-Ymer.
So i have a lot of things that i need to do in the new year

maybe also to continue my work on Enduro racer

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
Well, when i was hearing it on the video i thought : "Hey it would be fun to have this looping tune enhanced with many progressive variations in the beat, pace, arrangement over its loops."FedePede04 wrote:I first made one without drums, but AtariCrypt thought it was dull, so i did this one instead of, but i had my doubt about it, I am not 100% satisfied with it. but it look like that i will keep using this one, from the feedback i have received

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
i think you got a valid point, one gets pretty mad listen to this version for hoursdma wrote:Well, when i was hearing it on the video i thought : "Hey it would be fun to have this looping tune enhanced with many progressive variations in the beat, pace, arrangement over its loops."FedePede04 wrote:I first made one without drums, but AtariCrypt thought it was dull, so i did this one instead of, but i had my doubt about it, I am not 100% satisfied with it. but it look like that i will keep using this one, from the feedback i have received

so some variation would be great, but not sure that i am up for this task, but i will look into that later, going be a little hard some of the bass-drums notes are combine with the bass sound.

yes you got right, there are many great 8bit and arcade games never ported for the ST, so there is a lot to chose from

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
Got to level 3 without losing a life last night.
the old magic is coming back.
On level 2 the key at the top right on the ceiling needs to be collected by jumping on to the platform but the original Spectrum you jump through the platform to get the key..
I prefer the new way though!

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST
I just had a quick run on the MSX version, the 3 first is collapsing floor, its only the last one there is solid.
btw i have add pause to the program, and fixed the high score routine, i send you an new version this weekend
edit
i had a other look 3 collapsing floor and one walk through block, where mine is 3 collapsing floor and one solid block
edit +.
i also liked it better this way. but i change it any way, to make it as close as the real one as possible :'(
