My chiptunes
Hello!
Instead of making a new thread for each new track I make I'll just post them all in this thread...
Hope you like them, and criticism is welcome!

Re: My chiptunes
Thanks favardin
Here's one more! I've been busy working on my YouTube channel (modular synth jams) but I'm getting close to having a chiptune album ready for release
This one's among my faves!

Re: My chiptunes
Overall nicely done. The only criticism I have is that the lead is too loud and there isn't enough dynamics on it, it's mostly full loudness and no pauses between notes. Dynamics makes a lot of difference because a pause and differences in volume make make melodies more interesting. In electronic music, we usually tend to forget about dynamics, but in acoustic music like orchestral music for example, it's paramount because otherwise everything will sound unearthly.
Kludge power since 1976.

Thanks a lot for this constructive feedback! I've heard some of your track on Soundcloud and remember their production was quite impressive, I should use them as a reference!!cube wrote:Overall nicely done. That Battle of the Bits thing seems interesting, I hadn't heard of it before.
I like the tune you made for the Winter Chip XIV.

Okay! I'm trying to learn some basic music theory first, so I can figure out why my latest tune seems a bit lacklustre compared to my previous tunes, and then I was planning to make a snow-themed track. So if there's another Winter themed event, let me know...YQN wrote: ThanksBattle of the bits really made my music better because you compete with all sorts of musicians, including geniuses, it forces you to raise your standards and expect more from yourself
You should join, we are lacking YM chiptuners there

cqrefree/cqreless is quite interesting. Do you have a story behind it written anywhere? I like the ending.

There is a Winter Chip battle every year, whose deadline is generally around february607 wrote: Okay! cqrefree/cqreless is about how we're (not) dealing with global warming, like we're trying to be carefree but we're actually being careless and most of the world is gonna be fooked up in a few decades. Indulge the mario ending, I needed the most recognizable game over melody!
Re: My chiptunes
Are you joining yourself again? I got my tune finished, but then saw that the deadline has been extended by two weeks, and as such I'm going to wait a bit with submitting it, and ask a housemate for feedback first.YQN wrote:There is a Winter Chip battle every year, whose deadline is generally around february

Forgot to spam you with this short track I made for a friend's birthday (the one with which as a kid I spent most time playing and making music on our ST's)
