Atari Interactive is working on a new console

Atari is working on a gaming console, CEO Fred Chesnais said in an interview with GamesBeat at E3 2017.
Chesnais wouldn’t say much about the device, telling GamesBeat only that Atari is “back in the hardware business.” The last gaming console from Atari was the Jaguar, which debuted in 1993 and was discontinued in 1996.
Atari posted the brief video above on June 8, teasing a device called the Ataribox. The title of the video on YouTube calls it “a brand new Atari product” that is “years in the making.” Interested parties can sign up on the Ataribox website for more information.

I'm keeping excitement levels firmly in check until we know more. I'm guessing a retro-styled box powered by emulation and bundled with some classic games.
The interesting part is to find out if it is yet another VCS bundle, or will it be something more than that?

Yeah saw that from my google news feed couple days ago.
It's asking for developers. I think the cool demo crews here should go for it.

I see potential for a Steambox with some exclusive titles.
The whole thing only has a chance if it has access to a large software library. So a closed 2600-only system won't do IMHO.
I'm waiting for more news but I personally think this could be interesting.

The AtariBox is only a teaser at the moment, and Atari says that to avoid risk, they will start the making of the console after a crowfunding campain.
Who will pay for a console based on a PC hardware that runs old Atari Games?
Everything that you can do now with a standard computer.

Ataribox site have an email for developers, so they want more games that old Atari Games.
