Atari Legend & Atari-forum support BASIC Challenge 2007
There's a scent of holiday in the air!
It's time to regenerate, to sunbathen, to travel over the world... but it's time to code some stuffs for the scene, too!
We decided to co-organize a new challenge with ryo. Here are the rules:
1. The whole demo must be coded in a form of BASIC such as GFA, Omikron, STOS or any others out there on the Atari ST.
2. Only sound routines (chip, soundtrack) can be coded in another non-BASIC language. Although if you're good with the XBIOS(32) command, we expect some excellent music too
3. Screen may be converted from any of the famous demos (Cuddly Demos, European Demos, Mindbomb Demo, etc.) but it can also be a new and original production.
4. There is no size limit of the final file. Other than it should fit on a double-sided disk.
5. The demo has to be 1MB STFM/STE compatible.
6. You have to send the demo (source code & compiled) to the following address: contest@atari-forum.com
Beginning of the challenge: June 25th, 2007.
End of the challenge: December 31th, 2007.
All the .prg screens will be submited to Atari-Forum users.
A compilation of all productions may appear after the results.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the holiday!

Looking for a CosmosEx unit for Falcon...
Mmmm interresting
I think I'll try to do something
Does it means it must be STFM compatible or STE compatible is enough?5. The demo has to be 1MB STFM/STE compatible.
We don't really need converted screens in my opinion, let's go for the new *and original* productions3. Screen may be converted from any of the famous demos (Cuddly Demos, European Demos, Mindbomb Demo, etc.) but it can also be a new and original production.
I think I'll try to do something
step 1: introduce bug, step 2: fix bug, step 3: goto step 1.

Hello ryo,
Juste pour savoir si tu as reçu quelques prods à l'adresse email que je t'avais créée.
Veux-tu que je poste une news sur Atari Legend pour relancer un peu le concours ?
A bientôt,
Brume.

Ok, I set up Hatari, found GFA 3.6 somewhere and am having a play with it. Maybe I can knock up something, but it may be so laughably poo and undemo-like that I'll not submit it (or even speak of it again without crying).
Looking at the GFA manual, it seems to have quite a nice API - even some decent matrix manipulation commands in there!

And then, everybody could wait till december 08 to start wondering if they code something or notMaartau wrote:...The idea will be great to start the contest from now or for the 31 dec./1 jan., letting one full year .
But maybe some people already did something .. though nobody seems to say something in that way. So maybe 1 more year could be ok.
The Atari forum demo took quite a long time before beeing released no ?

Don't try to beat this, it would be too easy ;)
31st of December ...
Here's a modest Gfa intro.
Phew !!!
It works with Steem and on STE with 1 meg ( still playing on mine ... )
Screen address isn't on a 256 bytes boundary otherwise the demo doesn't run in 1 vbl and I don't know why ...

[NoExtra, c'est de la balle !]
That's a good thing to pass at the year 2008.
Many thanks Tomchi to give this intro for this contest !
I'm so very surprise to see our proper evolution in coding, I think it's original !
Are you ready to code in ASM ?
