Atari Legend unavailiable

Post by christos »

I don't if this is good or bad but AL has exceeded it's bandwidth limit. I guess that AL is becoming more and more popular since I can't recall a time that this has happened before.

WEll just shows the popularity of the scene!

Part of this will without doubt have come from the the myriad of releases currently hitting our emulators form AL

As keili said - at least tomorrow is a new month! Worrying thing is next month is longer! 8O

Well at least I know I am not imagining this one! (like the recent breakdown of this forum that I must have dreamed).

I have replied to that one nobogod
Now what were we on about? oh yes, mystery intermittent forums ah yes I remember that Sunday morning, I was up early as I was off for a walk o'er th'ills with me Dad and I logged in (as you do) whilst taking my essential morning caffeine infusion before setting off, and what a jolly splendid day it was, very fresh, cold, sunny, plenty of sheep etc... was a nice walk indeed, I like the Countryside
:)
Oh, and the forum was offline all day until I hit the refresh button!

Maybe now they are giving the Atari-Legend servers chance to cool down whilst Muguk is away in Scotland? :ehum:

It's still a whole week before the end of the month, Atari Legend just gets more and more popular :!:

Maybe partly because of the fantastic new releases that have been appearing there....

[on a seperate though - Not having problems with any type of 'bot' using bandwidth in anyway??? I doubt it, but who knows]

I configured my RSS reader to point at AL and it updates every 30 mins.
If loads of other people have done the same then I guess this could contribute to the overall bandwidth?

Was probably the mass downloading of the pron game that was up there :)
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

A couple of tech questions so if you don't want to fall a sleep please stop reading. You have been warned.

Has the site been setup and the scripts been written to take advantage of cache control and if modified since HTTP Headers?

As an idea I don’t know if it would counts towards your maximum bandwidth or if your server is set up for it, but most people will have webspace they can upload to. As the main way of getting files couldn't you put a form on the site where the user inputs the FTP details, and the site logs into their FTP server and deposits the file?

You can wake up now :coffe:

Would the chat thing contribute much to this? I know it is only small but it loads several hundred times in a typical chat session, which all adds up over the month.
