music from pompey pirates menu 89 (I think)
Hi,
I remember a track from a pompey pirates menu (89 i think with f15 strike eagle as the game, the picture on the menu was a fighter jet shooting at a helicopter). It was a great track and hada great melody despite being reeeaaally crappy sound quality. Anyone know if this is a ripped mod or was it one sparky's quartet tunes? If it is ripped anyone know where i can get it (and prob better quality)?

The tune is called 'Trouble' and yes, it's a Sparky quartet tune.

Dunno but my favourite Sparky tune is the one from menu 45 (F-19 Stealth Fighter).

Resurrecting this old thing!!!
On a whim I searched and found the Romeo Knight mod which is at first identical to the menu music. I thought the only difference was that the 4th (drum channel) was missing in the PP menu version. Then I noticed that some of the lead lines in the PP version has little flurishes not present in the Romeo Knight version...I put this down at first to to an 'aliasing' effect of a lower playback res but nope there are distinct differences.
I can't find this version in any of the mods that I have found so I'm thinking Sparky may have 'covered' this song in quartet?

Resurrecting this thread again:
The tune is definitely "Trouble Vision" by Romeo Knight!
There are 2 versions, one by Romeo Knight and one by Romeo Knight & Virgill.
It's the first one by Romeo Knight that's used in PP89:
http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?detai ... &view=6319
The distortion and 3 channel effect could be using a 3 channel player like the old, buggy, low frequency Noisetracker 1.2 player or they've switched off a channel to save CPU time. It's not Quartet.
I have unpacked the demo and extracted the mod from the PRG and it is 92938 bytes long.
Romeo Knights version is 92518 bytes long.
It is identical until a bit of padding at the end of the file.
Loading the menu version into DeliPlayer 2 says "Unrecognized format" but JAM player plays it identically.
I have disassembled the menu and changed the music player to use the Whizzcat MOD player and it sounds a lot better. It also detects if the demo is running on an STE and uses the Whizzcat STE play routine. PM me if you'd like the demo and source code.

That was a Quartet tune and it's called "Sledge - for PP Sledgehammer" and it's in the SNDH archive under Sparky.Dunno but my favourite Sparky tune is the one from menu 45 (F-19 Stealth Fighter).
