Falcon - Beeps but no MP3?

Post by FatRakoon »

I am surely missing something here, but my Falcon ( CT63 + FDI as I use CuBase Audio ) will playback chip music, but not any MP3 with FalcAmp

I can playback audio through the FDI unit in CuBase, but again no MP3?

Is this the DMA Chip being a problem?

I have forced the loading of the data into the STRAM as I know that the DMA chip needs that, but I am kind of stuck really.

Anyone have any ideas what I can try?

Are you getting MP3 audio out of the built-in output?
I have found that a lot of software will override sound matrix settings. If I set up the matrix to output to the DSP connector (and whatever D/A i have connected there) it will get reset sometimes to output to the built-in D/A instead.

No, I get no MP3 playback at all.
I have NOT tried to disconnect the FDI unit, mainly because the cable is iffy. I will bite the bullet and re-try,

I do have the FDI_INIT.PRG in the AUTO Folder, but of course this is ONLY selected when I am going to do Music.

I have NOT had any issues playing back any samples through cuBase, although now I am thinking about that, I have not bothered with sample playback for some time and so I will re-check that.. To make sure that the FDI IS outputting audio... Not just MP3.

You say when you set up the Matrix to use the DSP Connector... erm?

I mean, my FDI is setup and ready to play, I have not bothered to try playing back MP3 through this, but of course I have got it connected to my mixer... Maybe if the thing is tryign to output through this, and I am just not knowing it? - I will have to ( for testing ) have both the Falcons output and the FDI output both in the mixer to just see if I get ANYTHING from any of them?
