Network printing
I have a Xerox phaser 6022 printer which I had hoped to link to the Milan with usb but usb doesn't work.
Is it possible to connect via network ? I think WongCK may have a solution but I've not tried it.

Re: Network printing
Great that you state the model of the printer you have.
The user doc is located here.
It is AirPrint ready and you can use the latest version of PHERP to automatically setect the printer from your Atari.
Just put your Xerox printer into Airprint mode ( ought to be ON by default unless someone meddle with it).
Otherwise look at page 37 of the printer user doc on how to turn on AirPrint for the printer. (I would look at pg 37 regarless actually...)
Once the printer is re-started and ready, you can run PHREP on your Atari.
Go to Configure window and click bonjour on the Printer Protocol panel.
PHERP will detect the printer.
After sometime it will ask you to select the printer that is detected (if you have several) and the choice of protocol to use.
Rightfully, Bonjour suggest to use IPP.... but IPP is much slower than RAW as it need to contruct the webpage and chunking and all the security that goes along with https.
I would suggest RAW for home use... we don't really need to worry about security.
If Bonjour did not work, just select RAW on the Printing Protocol panel, enter the printer ip address into the ip address field.
You can also install lpherp.xdd in MINT, so that NVDI will automatically route the print spool directly to PHERP.
This skip the step where you need to save the print spool to file and drag that file to PHERP window.
Note that you will still need a printer driver to generate the spool file with Xerox command to control the printout.
May be you can get away with just using standard NVDI PCL driver as the Xerox printer understand PCL (they provides PCL drivers for Windows).
But the colours may not come out as beautiful as it can be (i.e. washed out).
have fun testing !

Re: Network printing
That is so cool.
PHERP installed, copied the xdd to the mint folder and rebooted.
Started PHERP and Bonjour detected the printer and the test print worked.
Now I'm trying to remember how to add a printer the NVDI.

Re: Network printing
I added the HP 5MP and 6MP driver but still nothing printed.
Assign.sys still had pcl as device 21.

Re: Network printing
You have PCL as device #21.
My guess is that any HP printer defined by NCDI will use this device 21.
So you just have to define any colour printer that works.

Re: Network printing
Yes, It should be a nice experience to use printing on the Atari.
Unfortunately for us, we are stuck with NVDI.
May be 5 years back, after Google removed Google Print, I had the idea of creating another driverless printer for Atari as specified by IPP IETF paper.
I have most of the stuff for it... bonjour protocol, IPP and a printer page description language ( i.e. like PDF).
However, it is still up to NVDI to load the PDF driver to generate the PDF.... and that is having problems with PHPDF.
So that's was a road block.
it is a real pity that Google removed Google Print, as it was a truly driverless printing for Atari when used with PHERP.

Re: Network printing
I am able to drop files onto the PHERP icon and they print, txt, pdf, jpg.
It's just a matter of getting NVDI to use the correct printer driver. I've not found one that enables colour in the printer dialogue box.
I could try dumping to IMG files then converting it to jpg for printing.

Re: Network printing
In NVDI I had entered the port as U:\ and the file selector opens, as I continue to type the dev folder opens and it selects the xdd.

Re: Network printing
When the file selector opens, type in the entire pathname into the filename field. Do not use your mouse to select anything.
Then press OK.
This way, the entire pathname will be included by NVDI tool, not only the filename.

Re: Network printing
Success.
From https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... 7&start=50
Downloaded the xeroxpap.zip that Perdix created
Unpacked and copied the 2 pri files to my papyrus/modules/printer folder
Open Papyrus and open the printer dialogue
Click Options
Load the xerox3.pri
Change the Output port to file/device -->
Enter u:\dev\lphperp
Save the setup either as xerox3 or with a different name
Now print and it should work.
Do the same with xerox6.pri

I missed your post above (I've had COVID this week).

Re: Network printing
I re-entered the path to the driver as U:/DEV/LPHERP and I was able to print from Texel. I has been using \
Photoline also printed in b&w but that may have been the dither setting.

Re: Network printing
It ought to print for every application that prints if you get the u:/dev/lpherp path correct.
It is then only a matter of getting the correct NVDI drivers....

Re: Network printing
I've just found out that Netsurf can access the Xerox printer's internal web page.
The print jobs page is a bit messy.
