And what are those fake 68060 in fact ? Will they work at all ?tjam wrote:According to lore almost every 68060 from China is fake, especially if advertised as genuine Rev. 6 CPU. There's couple of sellers at ebay who list their products as real Rev. 6 version, but I don't know if chinese CPU market is so infested with fake products that it's pure luck to find what you're looking for? At least you should get money back from ebay if product you ordered is incorrect.dhedberg wrote:Just out of curiosity, are there any reliable sources for 68060 CPU's?
CT60e is coming :)

Some of them are full 060:s but an older revision, some of them are LC or EC versions, i.e., missing MMU/FPU.

That's great, but for us who already have a CT60 - any news about the SuperVidel?willy wrote:There is (was) 80 pcs. on stock. So should be enough for everyone.

I second that!joska wrote:That's great, but for us who already have a CT60 - any news about the SuperVidel?
I did order CT60e, even though I have a CT60. I wasn't sure if SV would fit under the case with the original CT60 (or even if it was compatible) so I wanted to be safe.
I wonder if the surprise production run of the CT60e has something to do with ensuring there are enough platforms to make a SV run viable. Looks like CT60e has shipped 34 out of the 36 that voted to buy them. That's good enough! Willy it's time! Send that SV to production!

Cheers,
Stuart

Good point about the new run of boards and feeling out for another SV batch. Be nice.

Re: CT60e is coming :)
Does somebody have recommendation for cooler with fan for 68060?
btw
is it possible to have 68060 without fan inside Falcon? (without overclocking of course...)

Chipset coolers (45mmx45mm) are perfect. 060 is designed to work without active cooling, so you should be able to use it without fan.calimero wrote:Does somebody have recommendation for cooler with fan for 68060?

Re: CT60e is coming :)
Didn't realize the new batch was available. Just ordered one for my second Falcon along with the DSP clock. Looks like Wily has 23 left in this batch. When the Falcon remake comes out, I think he will need to make more

Re: CT60e is coming :)
If you're prepared to pay for it here's what I consider an optimal solution:calimero wrote:Does somebody have recommendation for cooler with fan for 68060?

It's a heat sink with a fan that fits the 68060 perfectly and snaps on to it underneath. It allows you to use regular thermal paste and it can easily be removed and put back any number of times. The construction has springs which will push the heat sink down. Replace the fan with a Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX and you get a close to silent fan with improved air flow. The Noctua can be mounted in the same holes as the removed fan, although you'll need to replace the screws with a set of longer ones as the Noctua fan is a bit taller. Best of all? It all fits within the original case with a fair margin!

Wow, great find Daniel. This is looks super-neat. I wish R. Czuba used those back in the day.dhedberg wrote:If you're prepared to pay for it here's what I consider an optimal solution:

Re: CT60e is coming :)
Ooh, that's really nice. I'm using an Akasa AK-210-BK myself. It comes with the thermal adhesive preapplied, so it's a "peel it and stick it" solution. It keeps the 68060 nice and cool, even at its stable maximum 95 MHz, and fits fine in the case. It's acceptably quiet, but I imagine not as quiet as your Noctua solution.dhedberg wrote:If you're prepared to pay for it here's what I consider an optimal solution:calimero wrote:Does somebody have recommendation for cooler with fan for 68060?

Re: CT60e is coming :)
I want to avoid future questions about a new batch of CT60e. There won't be any in the close future. There are 9x CT60e left in the store at the moment.

No other CT60e left in the store and apparently it will take sometime before a new batch or a new product is out, or?
