1) Pin 11 of IC 6301 lablelled U1 on schematic (IC was removed from socket, pin 11 bent outward and soldered to wire and then IC was re-socketed) is keyb tx orig (TX signal going from keyboard, which is sent to CE for processing) red wire in pic below.

2) Pin 43 of Header Socket labelled J2 of Sub-board is keyb tx (TX signal going from CE to ST, which contains original keyboard data + injected data) black wire in pic below.

3) Pin 44 of Header Socket labelled J2 of Sub-board is keyb tx (keyb rx -- RX signal going from ST to keyboard and to CE) black wire in pic below.
This is incorrect information. While this hookup will allow the CosmosEx to inject data into the IKBD stream, it will not allow the built in keyboard and trackball to work, because you have TX and RX on the Stacy end swapped.

The correct procedure is:

- Bend out Pin 12 (not pin 11) of U1 on the keyboard PCB and attach a wire to it. The other end of this wire goes to TX_ORIG on the CosmosEx (rightmost pin).

- Attach a wire to U1's pin 12 solder point or to pin 44 on J2. (Or you could even attach this directly to pin 2 on U7 on the Stacy motherboard if you don't want to run another wire to the keyboard PCB.) The other end of this wire goes to TX on the CosmosEx (second from right).

- Attach a wire to Pin 11 of U1 either directly on the IC (do not bend this one out!) or to pin 43 on J2 (or to pin 6 on U7 on the motherboard). The other end of this wire goes to RX on the CosmosEx (second from left).

- Note that the ground connection is superfluous. The Stacy keyboard PCB has plenty of grounding already, so adding another ground on this connection doesn't accomplish anything useful.

I have built this circuit on my Stacy and confirm that USB and internal keyboard, mouse, and trackball all function simultaneously.

The confusion here stems from the fact that the CosmosEx's TX and RX nomenclature is the opposite of the Stacy's. The CosmosEx is labelled from the point of view of the keyboard, but the Stacy schematics are labelled from the point of view of the ACIA chip.
Huh! This might explain why this never worked for me. I'll try this this weekend. Thanks!
