Wow, a massive 308 views 8O

for those of you here who purchased the magazine, did you like it?. With it being the last issue of ST Gamer Magazine :( due to time, and resources and life in general, I would love to hear what you though, I really wanted to cram in as much content in this issue. Also for as far as I know, ST Gamer is the first to do an actual ST related Crossword puzzle in a magazine, did you beat it? without checking the back for the solution?

Anyways, thanks for the support from those you thought it was worth the few pieces of sliver

have a good one :)

I do like the bold and very colourful layout of your productions. The interviews were my favourites and I particularly enjoyed the article about Youtubers. A nice effort and well worth the price.

Sorry to hear that, Darren. I'd have thought that a thread about an ST game retro magazine would get more views (at least more than mine ;)) I'm not an expert on British magazines, but I don't believe there has ever been an ST related crossword puzzle in a German ST mag.

Thanx everybody who is and has enjoyed the magazine so far, it was a great and labourious experience for me as an Atari ST fan and as a designer pushing the envelope in bringing the best Atari ST experience and would of loved to have covered many more things on the ST and now have to focus my sights on more imminent projects like volume 2 of the Atari VCS Encyclopedia book, my Coin-Op: Arcade Guide book and Video Game Artistry Compendium (which will contain an Atari ST chapter) in production. So all I can say it there are a few things going on behind the curtain and will be revealed soon.

But again, I can't say it enough how appreciative I am for all who have supported and bought Atari ST gamer magazine and if I've brought any glimmer of flashback or nostalgia to those days of inserting the floppies of the games covered in the magazine back to them then I'm delighted to have done so.

Cheers guys

I remember the coin-op machines going though our old workshop, the guys used to curse anything Atari related , basically because they were all custom chips which they could never get ahold of. I on the other hand would think "ooo.. Jaguar"

Really enjoyed reading this. Thanks for making such a great mag.
Beautiful art and layout throughout the magazine.
I loved the Converted and Believe it or Not sections.

One thing that I would have liked is to have more paragraph breaks as some of the text was a bit hard to read without them.

Hope you get a chance to continue working on another issue in the future :)

Many thanks for your comments, Squall, in high sight I should of put together an interview together with you regarding your port of Hatari to Android devices and believe it would of made great reading for those both familiar and unfamiliar with your great work you've done regarding keeping the ST alive and your wonderful emulator work.

Yes, I do know what you mean regarding some paragraph wrap arounds, but trying to cramp all the information set or paced for one or two pages etc, had to be done like that because we couldn't have say ten of 20 lines pouring into a third page with nothing else to insert. All nearly all the information we acquired when straight into the magazine without removing or taking parts out of it. So it is a basic gremlin that sneak into these type of things, my premise was pack in the content as much as I could, I hate minimal, which seems to be the norm these days  .

But I'm getting great feedback from both magazines and it's been an honour responding to those as passionate as me with this stuff and the shared interest of the wonderful Atari ST. As for issue 3, I can't see how it's possible, my historian who spend many hours researching, getting quotes, chasing up people for possible interviews has began packing up camp, readying his horse to join me in riding into the sunset from the Atari Magazine series and I believe we've captured and resonated the joy and nostalgia of the Great Atari ST and want to leave it at that, although a few people including Exxos have mentioned some articles that could be formed, but this is a gaming magazine for gamers etc. and wouldn't have the first clue in putting together a hardware feature and make it interesting and fun, games are where it's at :)

But thanks for the support and that you all continue to read ST gamer magazine again long after it has passed into legend and myth

Glad the interviews went down well.

I really enjoyed 'chatting' to all four of the people i managed to get hold of for Volume 2 and really appreciated their time etc, so it's great to see some feedback.

Much appreciated.

As for a potential Volume 3....

Speaking for myself, it's simply not going to happen (in terms of myself playing any active role).

The various odds n sods not used in Volume 1 or 2 (mini-interview with Ocean's Simon Butler, misc Lost Games...Beach Head 1+2 etc were in process of being ported to ST) have been passed onto other sites (you can read Simon's Lost ST game chat on GTW if your interested) and i never did get answers back from several key sources (inc 1 Ex-Atari UK source, sever UK coders etc) as people are simply far, far too busy to devote time to answering questions.

If they ever do 'come in'..i'll do as i've always done in this regard, have info put online and let folks know where to find it.

My 'researchers' hat has been firmly hung up, last lot of info and 1 exclusive interview, sat with GTW for a long off Atari-related feature and Q's sat with another key contact who i had to wait 6 months just to be able to put questions too, only to find he's busier than ever and won't be in UK for ages, so that source is looking like a dead end as well.

It's something that hit's all of us looking into Lost Games, as i hear same stories from GTW, Unseen64 etc....

There have also been major changes at a vey personal level, family been hit by a medical crisis, work is just an utter nightmare....

I find myself lacking the time, energy or drive these days and would rather go out on a 'high' as it were and let folks enjoy ST Gamer Vol 2, rest of the Classic Console Magazine interviews and the planned GTW article, rather than carry on going through the motions in future when to be honest, my head nor heart would not be in it.

The feedback is most appreciated though and a huge personal thanks to Greyfox for making the magazine happen and to the Atari community for purchasing it and taking time to comment on it.

Thanks for your kind words LostDragon And your continued work within the gaming communities. What was achieved by incredibly small team of people was amazing and brought that old feeling of when the Atari ST ruled the roost :) in my opinion and still does in a lot of ways. This was what I got from doing this magazine and with two issues made, i can look back and say, I give the ST greatness again one more time :)

Whilst it's likely to be a very Cold day in hell (sadly) before ST Gamer Volume 3 happened..i'm trying to get bit more material out there for ST Gamers.....

So far you've had the Nick Speaksman material....

Today sent a final chase up on another such 'look back on ST era' mini-interview i sent out for ST Gamer Vol 2..but sadly person in question was floored with work, so never managed to send back in time.Fingers crossed it can be returned.

I've also sent a few Q's today to someone i sooooo badly wanted for ST Gamer Volume 2, but only now tracked down.Fingers crossed again here.

There'll also be Atari related material on GTW at some point in form of a certain piece.1 full exclusive interview, with quote/select part from another.

It's NOT Jaguar related :-) As personally gone pretty much as far as i could looking into that..answers simply came back pretty much the same, platform commercially unviable, Atari did'nt fund.....Also despite repeated bumps by Frank Gasking on my behalf, 1 Jaguar person we contacted, never did reply with answers to Q's put, promises are nice, but we kinda needed results.

Thing is folks simply are far too busy with real-world jobs and a lot of years have passed, which renders a lot of interviews kind DOA these days..

Very sorry for the Necrobumping but..

I have had a few people contacting me suggesting it is being claimed on various Social Media sites that i WROTE ST Gamer Magazine.

As i have no FB or Twitter account, i am unable to trace the source, but please let me be clear.

My involvement was strictly limited to providing interviews with:

Darryl Still
Peter Johnson
colin Porch
Dan Clapson

And i passed on misc Triva for, but did not write, The Believe It Or Not sections.

Reviews were done by:

Marc Johnson
Darren Doyle
Jason Caraway
Jeff Mitchell
Chris Swanson.

Proof Reading by Mike Mee.

I wish to apologise to all the above if they are under the impression i am trying to take credit for their work.

There clearly are some very odd folk out there with far too much time on their hands.

I can double up on this..Just for the background on Lost Dragon as mentioned above is completely correct Lost Dragon was as mentioned provided links to the interviews present in the magazine and did not write part of this magazine, This production was and entirely part of the involvement of the people mentioned above, the social media propaganda was fabricated by Kieran Hawkens aka the laird across Twitter in order to sight review removal of his amazon books with plead citing Lost Dragon as a rival writer. this is simply not true, Lost dragon has never contributed with any form of written articles or features in any of Greyfox digital magazines.

@The Laird, for you exclusively here, if you read this. I can completely hold my hand up with the statement that I wrote 97% of the Atari Visual History and not just a designer as you put it. Lost Dragon did not provide any written words, we both have gone our separate ways sometime now due to difference of opinion, so please stop spreading lies and rumours of information of people you are eager to debunk on your twitter platform. cop on to yourself and grow up ffs.

Darren.

Thank you Greyfox.

Whilst i have provided interviews for a number of publications over the years (Pro Atari Magazine, Classic Console Magazine and ST Gamer) and passed on misc collected triva for Atari and ST Gamer magazine..

The writing of reviews and articles etc (thankfully) was done by others.

The publications were never mine.

I was merely a Researcher/contributor, just as i have been for GTW (site and upcoming book) and Unseen64 site and book.

In the interests of full transparency, my involvement in the GTW book was to supply misc materials for 1 Amstrad GX4000 title and 1 Sony Playstation title.

I also passed on Atari Corp Documentation kindly given to myself by Atari Historian Scott Stilphen, which related to the Lost Atari Lynx titles Vindicators and Rolling Thunder.

These enabled Frank Gasking to conduct lengthy Skype interviews with the coders of both and get a far more detailed account than the likes of myself could of achieved.

I have yet to see the results of both and have no idea which Lost Jaguar title the book will cover.

I have never conducted any interview or piece of research in return for any payment.

I did not back the Atari Visual History book at kickstarter, nor did i want to be credited in it, nor have i recieved or will ever recieve, a copy of it.

I review a wide range of products on Amazon both as a customer and potential customer and my reviews fall within the guidelines set by Amazon. Co.Uk.

Any perceived conflicts between rival Atari 8 bit books on the market at present are not my concern.

I am not involved in any future projects with any party.

As Greyfox has stated, we are at polar ends of the spectrum on many issues and have cut all ties long ago.

I wish him the very best with future endeavours, but have no desire to be part of them or attached to past ones, should he have any future plan's for them.
