Thanks Slingshot, I tested the new release with various games without any problem.

Re: SMS core
Hello fellow SMSers,
Allow me to put here a modified-for-MiST copy of the message I put on the MiSTer forum recently, because as you know the core share the same sources for the two plateforms :
I just released a new core, from a new branch, named sms_mist_20190507.rbf and you can find it here https://github.com/theflynn49/MiSTer_co ... /mode2-msx
This core supports
- mode2 graphics (like in f16 fighter)
- SMS/MSX dual compatible games (like in Cyborg Z),
- SG-1000 games (like in .. err you know.)
- there are a lot of SMS enhancements ahead of the march release
The question that arose is that this core has a lot of modifications in the graphic engine, more than usual, and maybe I broke a few things ...
So it would be nice if you'd test it thoroughly to see if you can find any regression, I mean any SMS native game that worked but doesn't work properly with this new core, and, at the end, choose which branch you want to keep : the new one or the old one more simple.
A few more goodies :
- most SMSMSX games need the OSD parameter "no bios"
- some of them need a patch :
F-1 Spirit : adr $0000 is : F3 C3 E4 00 00 00 should be : 41 42 F3 C3 E4 00
Knightmare II : adr $0000 is : F3 C3 A5 00 00 00 s/b : 41 42 F3 C3 A5 00
Nemesis2 : adr $0000 is F3 C3 E9 00 00 00 s/b : 41 42 F3 C3 E9 00
Penguin Adv : adr $0000 is F3 C3 A6 00 00 00 s/b : 41 42 F3 C3 A6 00
Thank you all.

Re: SMS core
Great, you really like to hack on this core

Re: SMS core
Excuse me, perhaps I'dont understand.
Can I play MSX roms games with this core in order SMS/GG/SG ?
And what I need ?

Re: SMS core
Ok, perhaps I understand: this new core for MiST doesn't incorporate MSX mapper.
Anyway thanks for the improvements

Re: SMS core
@slingshot : lol ... what's not to like in it ? You know how much fun this is when the thing gets alive.
@DanyPPC : my bad, this is confusing. There is a small list of about 10 games, written mainly by Zemina, said to be "dual compatible" with SMS and MSX (the same physical cartridge works in both machines). This is what this core supports. To play a MSX game you need the MSX core, I guess.

Re: SMS core
Just a question... can a black or some colour or artwork border be put around the Game Gear games? Border changes when you are playing and it's a bit annoying sometimes...
I'm very happpy with this core
. Apart from the border in Game Gear, the only problem I've found is the FM music on Afterburner, in the title screen, it sounds bad
Thanks for your great work!

Re: SMS core
Remember quite a lot of GameGear games have been converted to SMS format. I mean ROM hacks, not official SMS versions of GG games.
So you should get a better screen size. I love the GG Shinobi games.
I think the website is SMS Power which hosts the patch files (no ROMs).

Re: SMS core
Only few games have been correctly pached. I tried some months ago all the patches and I have four in my MiST card. I stay with The GG gamesHiggy wrote:Remember quite a lot of GameGear games have been converted to SMS format. I mean ROM hacks, not official SMS versions of GG games.

Re: SMS core
In the MiSTer version of the SMS core, there is an option to disable the border, so that everything around the visible screen area is black. It might be possible to port this over to the MiST core.
Re: SMS core
with las core sms_190524.rbf and last firmware firmware_190601.upg only one button work with a usb pad.
i'm alone ? or not.
it works for you ?

Re: SMS core
Check your controller.
Re: SMS core
Try the input test in the OSD, it's independent of the core.
Re: SMS core
Yes very big evolution !!!slingshot wrote:Try the input test in the OSD, it's independent of the core.
i check many core with same usb pad from mist beginning

for Sega Master System Core:
1) setting joystick_remap for all your usb pad (min right, left, down,up,A,B,select, start)
2) setting Swap joysticks to yes
and you can play alex kid for example

Re: SMS core
Probably you have a gamepad which had hardcoded mapping in the firmware, but this was removed I think last December. So you really must had an old release installed.Sheldon wrote: i check many core with same usb pad from mist beginning: easy before and now need more work:
