Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
In Menu core there must be bluetooth icon next to ethernet(or wifi) icon if BT dongle is recognized.
Make sure you've updated the linux. Update script by default doesn't update the linux.

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
I'm back. I got a powered hub and it still doesn't work. I even tried older versions of Linux and Main MiSTer (ones that use to work). All those attempts didn't work either. Do I need to update my sister boards?warham wrote:nathanhardie wrote:I use an older IO board. It's the all in one board (version 5.3 maybe?). And I use the Makerspot usb hub. Could any of that be the cause?Sorgelig wrote:No problems with 8bitdo receivers for me.
That hub is not powered is it?
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
I was wondering why i couldn't connect my bluetooth it was becasuse i didnt update with the sd card installer i thought that the script updater did that. Could you maybe add that in the bluetooth wiki that you have to update your linux with the installer or it wont work i know it's obvious now but i wish i knew before. Nathan are you sure your bluetooth usb is using the 2 known bluetooth versions i made sure to buy one that said it was a broadcom BCM20702 https://plugable.com/products/usb-bt4le/

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
Nuclear3d, I use the 8bitdo receivers?
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
the 8bitdo receivers and bluetooth receivers arent really the same thing at least concerning the use in this thread.
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
The updater can (if configured to do so) update Linux.Nuclear3D wrote:i thought that the script updater did that.
Please read here
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Updater_script_MiSTer
and please read the linked page in the readme with all the user options.

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
Their website says it uses Bluetooth 2.1, Class 2 (2.402GHz~2.48GHz). What do you mean by it's not the same thing... concerning this thread? I just want to get my MiSTer working again.Nuclear3D wrote:the 8bitdo receivers and bluetooth receivers arent really the same thing at least concerning the use in this thread.
Basically, while I start to map my 8bitdo controller it stops working at the test 1st joystick right step. Then the keyboard acts like it's underpowered.
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
I also had only updated the main Mister core and not the boot image. Once I did that bluetooth all worked fine.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
as far as i know with the 8bitdo retro receivers its one controller one receiver while this thread is about using a usb bluetooth for more than one controller at a time. And for the updater script i didn't know it could do that and know i do i'll read the link you posted and figure out how to make the script update linux thanks.

When updating Linux with the script does it always require downloading the latest updater script file and uncommenting the line or is there a better way to go about it?

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
For anyone still not sure, the suggestion is to copy and rename update.sh, and then make a matching .ini file containing the desired options (the uncommented line in this case) as an override. Then run the custom updater only when you want to upgrade the full Linux system, and the regular updater otherwise.Locutus73 wrote:Did you read the readme?warham wrote:When updating Linux with the script does it always require downloading the latest updater script file and uncommenting the line or is there a better way to go about it?![]()

You can make as many custom updaters for any purpose as you wish, as mentioned by Locutus73.

Thank you Lightwave, makes sense now. Locutus73 ^^, Thanks for all the updater work.

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
Fix the issue it seemed the USB dongle for my Rii XB media Keyboard was causing the issue. I had to press F11 on the keyboard then quickly remove the USB dongle for the Keyboard and then it would pair with my pad

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
When using a generic USB Bluetooth dongle, how do you enable the PSC OSD button combo as it doesn't seem to be enabled, pressing L+R+Start doesn't bring up the OSD??
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
you don't

Sorgelig said you can unless thats changed??Sorgelig wrote:Yes. But you can't enable autofire/mouse mode with this combo. So, it's crippled OSD button.BlockABoots wrote:Also with the latest Bluetooth driver Sorgelig has released does the PSC OSD button combo work (L+R+Start)?
Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
PSC mode available only in 8bitdo receiver. It doesn't apply to generic BT connection - it's 8bitdo receiver function.

Re: Direct Bluetooth gamepad support
With the latest updates for MiSTer core from 5/25/19 on I have experienced problems with my BT adapter not seeing my Dual Shock 4 controllers. I had no problems pairing them originally after turning off my cellphone and PC. I tried to do the same after the update and they can't be found. Any idea on how to fix this?
