This makes sense to me - it is its own stand alone product - it should have its own forum.
My issue is I consume this website via active topics RSS feed - can an active topics RSS feed be setup without including the Mister subforum(s)?
I want the old times back as well. It's becoming extremely annoying and I have no interest whatsoever in MIST/MISTer.
In my case, it would be great if AF had the ability to select which forums to follow. On AtariAge, I only follow the Atari 8-bit and ST forums. I ignore all of the other forums. It would be great to do the same thing here.
I must have the forum set up differently to you all as I've never noticed an abundance of MIST/er related posts and they certainly don't kill my vibe
Personally i'm really interested in the work Master of Gizmo and Ijor have done and I will continue to be so as long as old ST prices continue to ramp up on ebay I think it's really fascinating technology even if I don't understand it!
I have to agree with all the others. The MiST project/scene is great, I
even owned one (for a shore while) but I would much rather come to AF
and read it like the "good ole days", before the MiST project came along.

Yep, Ijor's cycle-exact 68000 / ST core made MiSTer much more interesting. With the old FPGA ST core, overscan and other timing critical stuff was flaky, but with Ijor's core they should work fine, so it's like a new ST with (in some ways) improved peripheral support (I just hope somebody would provide them ready-made, like Lotharek does/did for MiST).
As to what's visible e.g. with unread posts option etc... IMHO nicer would be an account specific setting / checkbox for each of the top level categories on whether they would be listed. Or would that be too much work / overhead?

T
I generally agree with you, but actually very often I check "search_id=active_topics" as an unlogged user. The same story with RSS, they are anonymous.
Would be cool to have separated both of them for Atari and NonAtari subjects.

No thanks.
This choice helps the folks who want only the native things, but not those who want to read both. Per user preference if it’s easy to do, or script like this if not seem fine to me.
The mist was an atari and amiga compatible. The mister project killed the original mist and the Mister maintainer doesn't even like the ST. It's a mystery why it belongs on this forum at all.
I understand it can be irritating, but on the other hand I'm still on atari-forum because of the MiST (and yes, the ST is for the Atari part of it). I have for example no interest in TT or Falcon related threads... But I'm interested to read about new games, music or demos on the Atari ST!
I don't mean any bad feelings towards the Mister guys, but I think when > 50% of a forums posts are not on the main subject of the forum (Atari 16/32 bit Computers), perhaps they need to be migrated to a new forum. As I type this the active topics page has 50 posts, of which 26 are in the MiST / MiSTer forums, and 2 more in the FGPA Chat forum.
