A reason to use something other than a Pi image file crammed full of emulators and ROMs for oodles of systems - many thanks!

Hello
I installed and ran BeePi successfully on my RaspberryPi 3B.
It feels smooth and nice!
I have many floppy disks of the french "ST Magazine" (carefully stored in boxes) and a USB floppy disk reader. When I plug the floppy disk reader, it is working ans seems to read the disk.
But when i double click on the a: icon, its is still empty. Is there sth to do to be able to read atari formatted floppy disks?
Secondly, I also have .st images of floppy disks. How can I read it from BeePi.
Thank you for your help.

Normally you just need to double-click on your .ST, then Aranym will close and Hatari is launched with your disk inside A:

Hello,

Aranym forces a reboot indeed, but the reboot stop at the linux login terminal. I use root/beepi credentials, but then the prompt appears and nothing happens...

You can’t read real floppies directly from an usb floppy drive with BeePi. It won’t work. BeePi can only deal with disk image.
You first need to convert your floppy into a disk image (.st , .msa ...) , and copy it into h:/Applications/floppy folder.
From here, and only from here, a double click on the disk image will launch Hatari and boot the image.
An other option is to start Hatari with the right click menu / tools, open Hatari setup with alter+F12, choose the emulation config you want (STE mono, STE color, STE color with borders ...), and load your floppy image.

Hello. Good job.

But I have a problem. There is no sound. I followed the instructions in the manual by changing the value in the rc.local file

The Pi is failing now. Can you help me?

Thank you in advance.

Using Beepi I get significant slow-down when accessing the microsd card. Perhaps I need a faster one. Any recommendations?

Yeah there is. There are a couple of projects that use an arduino to convert an atari kbd to a hid device.

The specs and quality of the SD card is important. Generaly I avoid the "no name" or cheap brand cards as I had too many bad surprise.
Use a fast class 10 SDXC UHS-I card for the best performance. I personnaly use Sandisk cards.

Yes you have various options, allready done or DIY.
Tynenouth software sells an interface for Atari keyboard to USB :
http://blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/201 ... d-kit.html

On atari forum de, Chocco transformed a dead 260ST with Beepi and did the keyboard interface with an Arduino board.
