Re: Milan headcount
I also have working Milan (060) but curently unused because of the hdd crash and no time to sort this out.

+1, 040/25, 32 MB
It was a developer machine, handed out by A. Goukassian to those who "gifted" Home or Lite version of their software to be included in the original Milan package.
I got a 68060 adapter, so I’ll upgrade soon.

Re: Milan headcount
I've got a Milan040. It's not in regualr use anymore, but I try often stuff on my Milan and when there's a new software out there, I'm installing an testing it on my Milan.
520 ST(M) (TOS 1.02), Falcon030 (16 MHz, 16 MB RAM, CF-Card, MiNT & MyAES), Milan040 (25 MHz, 48 MB RAM, EasyMiNT 1.90), Firebee, PowerMac G5 Late 2005 (2 x 2,3 GHz, Mac OS 10.5), iMac 4K Late 2015 (intel Core i7 4 x 3,3 GHz, Mac OS 10.11.6), IBM XT SFD (640 KB RAM, DR DOS 6.0), Compaq LTE 5300 (Pentium/133 MHz, DR-DOS 7.03), AT-PC (Cyrix 6x86L/200 MHz, Windows 98 SE/MS-DOS 6.22 & Windows 3.11)
Re: Milan headcount
I have got a Hades 060, and I am still using it with DTP and Calamus
Re: Milan headcount
Just bought an Adat Interface, same guy still got a Milan 040 and a TT on his attic. Im more interested in the TT, but for both machines there is not much software developed? Specific software i mean?
Atari 260 ST (rainbow TOS) Atari Falcon 030 14 MB 32GB HDD ,Plextor 716A CD/DVD ,Atari 1040 STE (4MB) C-Lab Mk-X CT 060 Atari Mega STe Soundpool Adat... too much

New applications for the TOS platform (was: Milan headcount)
Yes. But this is a pattern that you'd see on other vintage platforms, too – Mac 68k, Amiga, Acorn. Rarely new application software is developed, more likely tools and communication helpers. This is way quicker/shorter, and – what are you missing on the ST in terms of application software that’s feasible to do?Foxxy74 wrote:Just bought an Adat Interface, same guy still got a Milan 040 and a TT on his attic. Or what’s wrong with That’s Write, Cypress, Papyrus, Calamus, Artworx, Stella, Kandinsky, X-Act, Texel, Phoenix, Smurf, Papillon, Adimens, Arabesque, CoNnect? PureC, Lattice C, Prospero Fortran, ORCS, RSM, Devpac?
I wouldn‘t write a new implementation of any of the above mentioned – these are large projects, and they existing ones are quite good. Stuff that would be handy to have, like Telnet/SSL, or reading xlsx, are again projects that are either large, or not feasible on the ST due to its hardware limitations.

My Milan 040 is in daily use (part of the audio setup to listen to radio and for e-mail).

I was wondering about the Radio.
I use MyMail but it looks like development has stopped. I asked Erik if he would open source it but he said it needs a clean-up before he does.

Troll is the most up-to-date mail client now. Yes, it's GUI is a bit peculiar but works very well when you figure it out.

For radio: Just the mixer from the soundcard. FM Radio, cable to audio-in of the soundcard, cable from audio-out to a set of active speakers. No big dealmzry wrote:Hi Ektus, just wondering what software you use for radio and e-mail?Ektus wrote:My Milan 040 is in daily use (part of the audio setup to listen to radio and for e-mail).

For E-Mail, I'm using MyMail to check and delete SPAM and CAT to read and write E-Mail (POP3 without encryption) and News.

Re: Milan headcount
A streaming app for the TOS platform would be really nice. Streaming would be a nice feature for Aniplayer.

Re: Milan headcount
I remember trying to stream with CAB and Aniplayer back at the Millennium. It didn't work.
Re: Milan headcount
I downloaded the latest Troll to give it another try.joska wrote:Troll is the most up-to-date mail client now. Yes, it's GUI is a bit peculiar but works very well when you figure it out.
I got it to connect to my mailbox then it locked-up and lost all it' settings. Back to MyMail.
Re: Milan headcount
Have a Milan to reassemble, unused for a few years. Purchased an 060 adapter to upgrade when time permits. Got side tracked thinking my TT would be the better DTP machine... admittedly the Milan is pretty nice.
Not a MiNT power user, configuring network card and driver's I'm sure will take more effort than the mechanics. Now have the ATI driver to try out, hoping that more performance than the included video card (forget now which it is, been so long).

It would help if you would report this to Pierre (aka Rajah). He is very quick to react.PeterS wrote:I downloaded the latest Troll to give it another try.
