We won!

Post by dhedberg »

New Beat's contribution to the Sommarhack 2018 demo competition can be downloaded from our page. The demo is for stock Falcon030 computers and requires at least 4MB of ST-RAM. Both VGA and RGB monitors are supported.
http://nb.atari.org

The demo can also be downloaded from demozoo or pouet.

For people not in possession of a Falcon030 it's now also available on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUbo0DURt1Y

Thanks! :-)

Should run just fine in Hatari, but maybe the settings weren't what it wants. Can't remember exactly the settings I used. Will check when I get back home on Monday. There'll be a video uploaded at some time as well, but please watch on real hardware if possible, CRT screen preferred for smoothest experience, as always! :-D

Thanks everyone for the kind words! To me the true reward is if people enjoy watching the demo! I had a fantastic time creating it and your words inspire me to continue programming on my favorite computer of all-time, the Falcon030. Also, thank you to everyone else participating in the demo competition and all the visitors of Sommarhack. As usual the contributions at Sommarhack were of high quality and this year also very amusing! :-D

Just a few years ago I would never have thought that I would ever release a demo for the Falcon030 again. The reasons why I eventually did are spelled: SMFX, DHS, Dekadence, Anders (New Beat), and Sommarhack! Also GGN, who is traveling all the way from Greece to Sweden every year for Sommarhack and the "return" of DML and all of his amazing work on the Falcon030 have been inspiring to me! There may not be a lot of us left, but the spirit of the ones that still remain is incredible! Thanks!

very nice demo ! old school spirit with some new effects and smooth transitions, I love it !
It seems like the MOD music files are not readable by a standard MOD player, is it possible to get the music from the demo somehow ?

Thanks! I've linked to the original version of Tipish (the one in the demo is slightly patched by me) from the demo's page at demozoo:

Congrats to Dan the beer man winning against established Sommarhack groups like DHS and SMFX! I liked the '90s look and feel with '10s sensitivities. 20 years made us all much more sophisticated :)

Also, we (me+XiA+Acca) also won! The twist seemed to have made a good impression to the crowd, and they were kind enough to vote us to the top. We had a lot of fun during its creation and hope you like it also :).
is 73 Falcon patched atari games enough ? ^^

Grand work all around!

I loved Daniel's demo, but especially 'The Twist'. That really made me smile.

I'm intrigued as to what sort of catering Doug Little (DML) provided?
