Damn. Yeah I also would think the lack of Analog signals would be a show stopper as well? I think even with HDMI you can get analog converters, I don't think I have seen any DisplayPort to VGA cables. DVI is the most universal in that regard and has some of the highest bandwidth potential. Too bad there is no such thing as a mini DVI port.
Edit: apperently there IS a mini-dvi port. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-DVI

Re: I'm calling Willy out! SuperVidel info!
There are also plenty of micro-HDMI to DVI cable adapters: I don't know the legal aspect but maybe it is possible to use a HDMI plug to output only DVI data (no sound, no CEC...)?
Re: I'm calling Willy out! SuperVidel info!
Put a Mini DVI connector on the SV. The user can then decide for himself how to bring this to the outside
There are many suitable adapters that can be used - mini DVI to VGA, HDMI, DVI, VGA+DVI...

Interesting how peoples ideas of 'molesting' their case is different. For me anything on the back side is fair game, anything that adds to the Falcons usability without messing up the front view. Because lets face it, we use these machines for fun and nostalgia as well, plus some productivity.
The _only_ time I would want to keep a completely unmolested, factory falcon, would be in the case of a factory falcon - with _no_ modern upgrades, just what was available at the time. But where is the fun in that? Okay for a museum perhaps. Or maybe if you want to sell it some day.
For me I want as much modern usability as possible. If that means more ports on the back, then yes. If it means I can use and enjoy my Falcon more, then yes. If I wanted a Museum.. then that is another story.

I always like to have an original (for full compatibility) and a molested one.
Unfortunately who can afford two Falcons these days? It's hard enough for me to find one with a US keyboard that is under a grand... with all the keys!

Re: I'm calling Willy out! SuperVidel info!
Hi folks.
So, @Silly Venture I was talking to many Falcon Users ... and they confirmed my idea.
It's very simple.
Small box mounted on the backside of Falcon, to the Video port. It will be fixed with screws to the Video port, and will have some support underneath.
A flat cable will be inserted to the box, using the native gap between video port and the case. "The Box" will be equipped with DVI-I port (both Analog & digital signals), Ethernet port, maybe VGA (Analog signals in DVI will be duplicated) and some buttons. Inside "The Box" will be also integrated converter/switcher for Falcon 030 to VGA/RGB signals.
As an result you will get only ONE cable to connect the monitor, in a cost of small box attached to the Backside of your Falcon. I'd say, the box should not be deeper than 1,5"(4cm), its less than VGA adapter
BUT ... there is also a challenge ...
Buy Female DB19 ...
I send inquiry to many places, and they do not have any connectors, or are not responding ...grrr....
I got confirmed that IEC has some ... but They are not responding to my Inquiry.
So, if anyone knows where I can buy DB19 female Connectors, please let me know.
The absolute requirement is - minimum 250 pcs. to buy.
Please PM me if you have any info.
Thanks.
It makes no sense to start development until i get these connectors in my hands.
Best regards Willy.

Sounds like a very good idea
Can't help you with the connectors I'm afraid. Maybe you can solder pins directly to the PCB instead?

HDMI cards out of China bypass HDCP.christos wrote:I think hdmi needs a licence to be purchased. You cant just add it.jvas wrote:Can't the DVI be replaced by HDMI? Lot smaller.
Could always go there for production

Re: I'm calling Willy out! SuperVidel info!
Wow, that sounds actually really awesome. Kind of makes me wish I'd waited to get a SuperVidel, just had no idea when they'd be released. Of course now I have a rack mounted case I have to fit the Falcon in, but that's waiting until after I move...

You could ask at http://fctgroup.com/de/produkte-loesung ... ndard.html if they happen to have the 19-pin variant also.

@Willy
This is an interesting article on sourcing and producing DB19 and even mentions Atari:

Any luck on getting some?

@All
Some good news.
I got confirmation from 2 (two) places, that they HAVE some usable connectors. I hope i get them soon
I'am also in touch with manufacturer in China, but it seems that is too expensive for this relative small project.

Sorry. No preorder YET.
It is going so f*** slow ..., and this time its not my fault ,)
One of the companies beat word record with response time: 41 days ... and that was by email. I'm sure that pigeon would be faster.
