What to do with non-working IC chips in general (not platform specific)?

I have successfully repaired a leg or two on chips but always wonder what alternatives to tossing the non working chips one has in spares for all the ataris, commodores, etc. in a collection. Can bad chips get fixed and if so, is it worth the effort?

If not, anyone come up with cool art project designs out of them?

Broken ICs are not possible and/or worth the effort to fix, apart from possibly fixing a mechanical failure, like a broken leg.

Do a google image search for "IC necklace". You'll find lot's of inspiration! And a girl with a pokey, SID or 68030 around her neck would certainly be HOT!

Yeah, I figured. Just didn't want to find out there were pros in the world that COULD fix them and cry at the thought they couldn't reach everyone with their message. I'd really feel bad dumping a POKEY/SID chip in vain. I like the jewelry idea...

I have an MC68000 keyring at home

it was a pain to drill through though, the ceramic is tough stuff!
