Re: Geneva
I shot some money over. Thanks for making this happen.
I am looking forward to seeing the source code and seeing what I can do to get it to build with newer compilers and tools.

Re: Geneva
Donated some as well. I have to admit that I had no idea just how expensive data recovery was. When I saw that invoice i just about spit out my drink!

Re: Geneva
I wouldn't be surprised if the biggest part of the data recovery price tag was actually figuring out how to get files from an Atari partitioned disk to USB flash disk, i.e. something we could have done for free with just a disk image provided. Either way, it's good to have the files back and yes, I've donated a little as well.
Re: Geneva
Actually, the biggest expense is they are DriveSavers. They have an excellent reputation of data recovery, but their prices are high enough that you will never pay them unless you want the data back very badly. Their prices are a terrific reason for good backups. A modern Mac or Windows drive that needed to be recovered by them probably would have been that price or higher.

Re: Geneva
FYI I have received a preview build of Geneva made from the restored code and build machine. Dan is now working on a new build of Neodesk. He plans to release the two together shortly and follow up with source code. Please stay tuned.

Awesome! Do you know if the coming builds have any features that have not been released before?

Interested to try it out!
Re: Geneva
Good to see the disk recovery was a success and a build was possible. Looking forward to a 2017 open source release for both Geneva and Neodesk.

Everyone who can should donate so he gets, at least, some of his money back.

Re: Geneva
I just spoke to Eric Rosenquist about STeno/STalker and he wrote back that he sold all the right to Gribnif many years ago. So any chance Dan will open source those as well?tenox wrote:FYI I have received a preview build of Geneva made from the restored code and build machine. Dan is now working on a new build of Neodesk. Re: Geneva
I had to look up what STeno was, figured it was some sort of notepad program, looks nice. But STalker on the other hand brings back many memories!
