Bootmanager compatible with ct60e?

Post by 1st1 »

Hello.

I still have an unsolved problem. I have no working bootmanager for 68060 mode. This is my testing:

1. XBoot III crashes on starting
2. TUBS 3.05 and 4.01 are loaded, but no display, Falcon stops booting. (additionally it does not support CPX enable/disable)

In 68030 mode both work as designed (but TUBS is quite primitive)

Which bootmanager do you sugest to use with ct60e? Ideally it should support the following functions:

- works in 030 and 060 mode
- differentg sets, ideally up to 20
- rename prg/prx in auto folder according to set
- rename acc/acx in root folder according to set
- rename cpx/cpz in \cpx folder according to set
- copy newdesk.inf according to set
- change start order in auto folder within the boot manager
- main menu always come up, not via hotkey
- mouse support would be fine
- looking neat like xboot would be fine
Power without the Price. It's not a bug. It's a feature. _/|\_ATARI

I remember using Stoop, it has some bugs but visually stunning and CT60 compatible.

I've used a 040-patched XBoot the last 20 years, it works fine with a 060.

Yes, I used XBOOT 3 as well. I think I used a patched version but it could be I used the original.

The original binary was packed and did not work at all on my Afterburner. IIRC there was also some issue with 030 only instructions.

Can you provide 060 patched version of XBoot III? That would be the best and easiest!

Does Simple Boot also manage newdesk.inf files? This is quite essential for me.

Do you put xboot at the start of the auto dir? before nvdi?

The most sensible location is at the very start of the auto-folder.

Yes, so I can enable/disable nvdi. The only thing what is before xboot is a little tool which makes the falcon inside speaker silent. And that's always enabled. I can adjust volume through fsound6.cpx.

Additionally, I don't know how/why, but now after Xboot works, also bigdos-f (V8) works. But it must be started after Screenblaster driver.

I just tried this version of Xboot on my CT2. 100% better, no random crashes, file size is larger so I probably had a compressed one too. All I need is an English version now.

Quick and dirty English version I knocked up. Don't expect most of the error dialogs converted yet, but the basic interface is translated.
