No more Steem SSE website [+ new site]
Bad news, a few days ago I was unable to connect to the FTP server of my free website.
Today, same thing, I changed password to no avail, and because it's free, there's no support.
Since I still had "control panel" access, I decided to nuke the site while I still could. Nothing worse than a stale site.
I liked the scheme because it was anonymous. It's no matter of money, but I don't think I will set up a new site soon.
Another bad side of it is that all the pics in the "coming soon" threads don't exist anymore. Sorry.
Of course, the sourceforge site is still there, so source and builds will still be available.

That's really bad news.
There is a free google website service - AppEngine :https://cloud.google.com/appengine/
I use it for a few my projects since 2009 and it works fine.

This is what happens sooner or later with free hosts. I talk after own bad experiences with about 5 diverse free hosts some years ago.
I can only recommend to go on some paid host, or accept someone's offer. Not only that it's way more reliable, but there are usually many goodies with it too.

Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

With the free host, it was anonymous, that was the point.

Yeap. I also suffered several free website closure as well. Now I am on google sites, but you never know, Google may just "take down" one of their services like they have done to many services.

I have also experienced loss of free web space from Tiscali and Freeserve when it changed to Wanadoo then Orange. Sometimes free hosting even prevents you accessing by FTP from a different ISP. A friend of mine also lost his free space when the ISP changed their terms and conditions, which sucks.
I now pay a small hosting fee with a US hosting company and £9 a year for a domain name. I can access it by FTP with no problems accessing it from different ISPs.

Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, 520STFM (x2), 2.5Mb STF, Atari 2600JR, Flashback 8 Gold.
Hardware: Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

Steem SSE site is now:
http://ataristeven.exxoshost.co.uk/
With many thx to one particular AF member. I know the guy is modest so I won't name him, though by carefully checking the URL, you could get an idea of who it is.
It's his space, and as you probably know, space and bandwidth on the internet are precious, so I'll check if some downloads can be referred to atarimania etc. instead. And I'll check if some usual DLL are really necessary on this site.
But for the moment, the site is just as it was, except that png files were compressed following advice by Mr. E.
Thx again dude!

Re: No more Steem SSE website
Recently I can't access drive B: anymore under Steem SSE 3.7.2. ... maybe just a problem with the settings? Anybody got a clue?

lotek_style,
Sounds like you have clicked on the icon for drive B in the disk manager. Another click on that icon should restore access. I had the same issue recently and this got me passed it.
