CT60e is coming :)

Post by willy »

03.2018 Update.

As i have finished shipping of all preorders, reservations etc. From today the only way to buy CT60e is a new webshop that was finally finished (almost).

https://www.retro-cloud.eu/shop/hardwar ... ily/ct60e/

This is our new initiative to gather in one place all small vendors related to Retro Computing, and allow them to sold their product without paying ridiculous high fees on the leading auction portals.
We can offer smallest possible fees. As low As 0,5€ for smallest vendors, and up to 5% for regular shops.
No membership, No setup Fee, only small sale commision, only retro, no bullshit.

Please contact us if you wanna be a vendor or have any questions: https://www.retro-cloud.eu/

=============OriginalPost=============

As there was a lot of rumors etc, I would officialy present you the new CT60e.

Why e? just e for evolution.

It was designed in cooperation and consultation with Rodolfe Czuba, Nature, godfather of this project AS.. and many other people (mainly from poland).

What's new:
  • 6 layers PCB
  • 154.7mm x 158.9mm
  • integrated CTCM - no more clock generators.
  • integrated F030 power connector.
  • improved mechanical stability. Holes match original PSU mount holes.
  • Improved stability and EMC compability (not tested yet, as there is no prototype at this moment)
  • 100% compatibility with CT60/CT63
Pictures and future news you can find on http://JIL.guru.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME EMAILS asking how to buy, how much it will cost, when it will be avaliable etc.etc. EVERYTHING will be announced everywhere so just keep an eye on this topic. If you allready sent an email to Rodolfe - you will be contacted as soon as the batch will be rady. If you really cant wait, just declare yourself in this topic.

Thanks.

Any questions?
Put it in THIS topic. I will not respond any emails. ;> (Ok. if something is really important ...)

Yes - I should also mention that I would be in the market for one too. Although I'm not quite as excited as Shoggoth appears to be...

I would like to get two...but this would depend on the target price with the 68060 or without it. Is it possible to know its range price, please?

Ok, two CT60e :p (we'll see what happens with the 68060 chips later)

EDIT: Be clear about declaring interest in two CT60e (but it would be nice to know about the target price to don't have surprises  )

Does this one fit properly in the original falcon case ? I have one of the first CT60's built, but the CPU/FAN makes it to tall to fit under the keyboard. I got a "extender" PCB to move the entire thing backwards, but make the whole thing top heavy and a bit iffy IMO. So I could be interested in one. Though is there with and without CPU options ? Would probably use my CPU in my CT60 (its a crappy REV1) but if it keeps my cost down.. Also then would have to find a home for my CT60 which has had next to no use since I brought it 8)

Looking at the mockup image and layout, I don't think the CTPCI headers for the backplane or IDE can be accessed without height extending the CT60e's bus connectors.

Willy - I can let you borrow a CTPCI for you to check with your design if it helps you at all?

What do you want use CTPCI for ?
Its ... absolute obsolete. No more chips to buy.
SV is replacing it's funcionality - except IDE port.

I agree - if you have SV, then the only think CTPCI brings is fast IDE. Getting CTPCI + SV + EtherNAT in the same system is also a bit tricky as you have to slow down the CT60 in order to get it stable.

However, with a small multi-layered board, you could remove the headers from the CTPCI and bring them out to the side facing upwards so they are accessible... If that's what people really want to do.

I might have a look at this myself actually, just for fun.

Willy we are waiting for this project many years…

Cptci is non sense, for this cars drivers don't exist.. (only beta drivers?).
Instalation in std. case Falcon hmmm… Is possible but you must buy one connections pci.
This is only my opinion on ctpci.

Super Videl this is solutions.

p.s.

Hi,

No hope for me.
I'm only interested in the original standard Falcon 68030 16 Mhz (the one which is really challenging when coding something).

Adding hardware is no more a falcon for me. (Aranym does the job quite well for faster CPU).
That's just my personal opinion of course ;)

Best regards

It's designed to mount into the screw holes for the PSU so should be very secure.
