Ventura ripped but it is like Projectyle in that it causes Q3MPlay and Quartet to crash when playing .. but it's a perfect rip from the memory dump I made using STEEM debugger ...
We need an expert on Quartet file format ;-(

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Quick way to rip (PC only)
Load using Steem Debugger (assuming demo works with it)
Get to menu screen and load demo
When music playing (or even better at the "press any key" part after decrunching)
Dump 1MB of memory via Memory snapshot operation to a file.
Copy file to a folder you unpacked attached ProWiz to .. run prowiz and point at the dumped memory file.
i.e pw memory.dmp
If there's a recognised .MOD format in there it will be ripped out as the original format, plus ProWiz will also convert it to a normal .MOD if it's a protected one.
Unlike the other copy of ProWiz I submitted here, I've renamed the .EXE file and remembered (this time!) to include the recognised _types_ file .. does help

Prowiz also recognises a lot (but not all) of common packers .. I'm helping to get the author to recognise a lot more Atari-only packers.
No one method is the best to rip MODs out of demos, games etc. but this one is aimed at most beginers.
Everyone has to start somewhere

Purely for testing purposes .. ripped the demo as above and ProWiz attempted to convert the MOD as it reckoned it was in "ProPacker" format .. but after examination, the "ProPacker" format seems to also include a lot of the replay code from the sample table onwards ..
So I ripped .PRG file and put it through EasyRider .. 2nd guessing that the MOD replay was at the end of the program judging by a WinHex dump. Found that the .MOD file started after the last RTS of the replayer, saved off this dump from there to end of file and then re-ran it through ProWiz ..
It detected a ProPacker file and successfully converted the .MOD file to DECOMPOSED.MOD (in .ZIP file attached).
(I think I must have had a lag or something as the same message been posted twice! Now deleted the repeated post.)

The file-naming format it uses is Amiga thru & thru !!
I've been meaning to send the author depack headers so he can add them to his tool as well as native Atari ST files like TCB Tracker and Quartet (to make my life easier!).

@ Aldnaldn wrote:I've just tested the Prowizard program, it works very well
I just wonder why it recognizes the ice packer as iam packer. As far as I know, ice packer is an atari native packer
Anyway, it works well, but no doubts it's an amiga program![]()
The IAM packer is an Amiga packer and is essentially a port of the atari ICE packer. The author also added code for the ATOMIC packer so that Amiga uses could try both packing methods.
you can find more about some Amiga packers (including decpack sources - although Mug probably has a more extensive collection!) over at http://www.amiga-stuff.com

Guessing here but "IAM" = "Ice on Amiga" ?
A lot of the early ST packers were ports from the Amiga .. Bytekiller being the most famous early port.

Could quite possibly be that Mug.
Know what you mean about the early ST packers - in my delcing into some old code in the past I noticed similarities and then read something I think was written by yourself mentioning Bytekiller being a port
I guess if we ported their packers - only right they ported our to
BTW: I can't for the life of me remember what the Amiga option in the Automation packer was for (indeed I never attempted to use that setting) - I assume this was to allow amiga specific packing or something similar??

Can't remember what it was for either .. SSR (Stainless Steel Rat) aka EGB is you're best bet as he was the original author (I think).
