Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
Hello,
I would like to request that game, I already have three version of it including the original box with all disc and documentation.
The second one is the Automaton image, which is bugged for dongeon explorations especially if you save and load dungeons.
Sometimes you end up in another dungeon alltogetter, or get stuck. Not to mention if you rerun the game after doing the dungeons once, the items do not always respawn (especially the unique, one-timer items).
The Third one, is a 2 images (one for each disc of the game) that I got from a peer-to-peer.
So At fist I thought "HEy, this is going to be like the original" Right ? Nope, some joker cracked it and by doing so some of the battle sequence is buggy and sometime characters can't attack or cast spells anymore even if in good health.
What I could like to request is for an Uncracked, non-automatized version, just 2 images (I use SteeM) one for each disc.
As I have the original documentation I dont need hacking.
Thank You.
PS: I have tried «Atari ST Disk Detective v1.1.exe» which gives an error when I tried to run it, and I did a forum search for "Nikademus" and didnt find much.
I will come to check the forum every day or so, but if you need it my email is francois.poisson@videotron.ca
Thanks again.

You could also try SuperGAU 65 or Zuul 230. Both can be found at Planetemu.

Phantasie III is one I've not yet tracked down .. got Phantasie II, Wizard's Crown & Rings of Zilfin though

Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
I think I have a solution to Francois424's problem with the Automation image.
Background: Phantasie III (PIII) is my favourite game for Atari ST. I researched emulators a few days ago (which I have never used before), found Steem (and others), loaded Steem, got the Automation image of PIII and then ran into the problem Francois424 mentions: can't save/load dungeons. (Note I did not yet see his other problems: end up in another dungeon and items not respawning.) I don't know much about programming/computers, so I didn't know how to solve. I searched the internet and Francois424's post was the closest thing I found related to this problem.
Then I called a friend who does know programming/computers and he figured out a solution.
The apparent problem: maybe something to do with not being able to save to a ST file. (However, one could save your characters to the ST file, so I don't know why saving dungeons to the ST didn't work????)
The solution: 1) with Steem diskmanager, create a new disk image (right click to get menu). 2) put this new disk image in the B drive (don't the pictures of the dirves look like little faces? I have always thought this, since I was ten) 3) Start PIII from the ST file (i.e. put the ST file into the A drive and start Steem), which will bring you to the green desktop of Steem. 4) In this destop, copy all of the files from A drive into the B drive. 5) go into the B drive and delete (i.e. drag to trach) the one file from the "Auto" folder (my friend thinks this auto folder/file does work anyways). 6) In diskmanager, put the disk image (which now has the PIII files on it) into the A drive. 7) reset Steem, press 1 to goto PIII and then in the Steem green desktop, click the PIII file to start PIII. '8) done.
I joined this forum to provide this solution. If someone:
- has a different solution;
- know if Francois424's other problems still exist;
- has other comments,
...please let me know. I hope this helps someone else enjoy PIII.
Thanks.

Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
I have all three Phantasie games, originals with boxes & manuals. I play them on real Atari ST/STE. I don't know how I can help. How do you suggest I create images to run in emulators?

Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
I have made SuperCard PRO images of Phantastie 2 and 3. I can share them if that would be of interest.
Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
Is is possible to make ST disk images of Phantasie III, or does it use some protection scheme making it impossible? I played this game back in the 80's and loved it. Would be nice to play it again, preferably on an emulator if possible.

Here you have a copy of Phantasie III.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
Might as well also give you a copy of Phantasie II.
Btw, how do I attach more than one file in the same post?

Wonderful! Thanks a lot! Are these the originals? No copy protection besides the annoying questions during the game?greatguy wrote:Here you have a copy of Phantasie III.

From memory it used a manual protection.

These are from the original disks and I don't think that there are any physical copy protection, but I did notice a strange format on the data disk of Phantasie III.dhedberg wrote:Wonderful! Thanks a lot! Are these the originals? No copy protection besides the annoying questions during the game?

There is nothing unusual with data disk. Standard SS, 9 sector/track, FAT12 TOS floppygreatguy wrote:...

I compared your images with those at AM. Both are 100% same - talking about conversions to ST format of them.
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

I'm sure that the data is the same on .ST image, but the log-file I get from aufit while converting to pasti tells a different story about the diskformat.

Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
I noticed it too. But since it is regular FAT12 floppy, all it is irrelevant. I saw a lot of originals with similar 'anomalias' .
Real question is: why 2 game floppies are not same in that ?

Re: Phantasie III -- The Wrath of Nikademus
Thanks for that, but I hate pasti formats. (I still downloaded it, but it's HYPER SLOW to play with pasti as Phan3 was one of these games that had a gazillion disk accesses.
Yes problem still persists. I got 3 versions, one that is cracked and bugs out some of dongeons (missing treasures), the other has a display bug in combat, especially if you get caught sleeping. and the other I don't remember, but it was so bad I did not keep it.
I already had Phantasie 1 and 2 and they run really well... thanks nonetheless
Can I get a .ST format (not STX) of the Phantasie III original disks ?

PS: yes manual protection, which I still have at home from all that time... Not that I need it anymore as I played so much I hav 99% of the questions/answers burned into my skull,

You can convert my STX images to ST in your emulator using any copyprogram and an empty ST-image.

Mount a blank .ST image in Drive B (2 sides, 80 tracks, 10 sectors). Mount Pasti image in Drive A. Copy all the files from A: to B: then use your new .ST file.

Ok, Mug UK and GreatGuy, just giving you an update.
I managed to copy both disks into new images, which now run without Pasti.
I loaded the game up fine and will test for a little while to see if both main bugs I had are gone.
Will update soon. and Thank you for your help... may have took 6 years, but if this work will be most worth it.

Ok, I took the default (and sucky) party thru a part of the game to test it out thoroughly :
Bug #1 - Display error when caught sleeping (night encounter) -- FIXED !
Bug #2 - Full health and awake characters not able to do squat in combat -- FIXED !
Bug #3 - Missing/Altered Treasures in Dungeons -- FIXED !
Bug #4 - Dungeons not Saving/Reloading properly -- FIXED !
So far, all of the bugs I had noticed are GONE and everything is working like a Charm
HUGE thanks to everyone on the forum that didn't forget about me over the years.
I am one HAPPY dude right now
