Hi,
what is your speed of SVEthLANa? mine:
CT63 75MHz
MiNT 1.18, Litchi 1.1J
from
MacBookPro FTP
big files (few MBs) - around 73KB/s
what could be bottleneck? 8port Dlink router show that Atari is connected at 100mbit/s...

Re: SVEthLANa speed?
Litchi 1.1 uses STinG TCP layer, you need Gluestick to run. Both layers slow the transfers (many calls with small buffers).
Litchi 1.2 uses directly MiNTNet (Gluestick only needed for the resolver function), so no bottleneck. On the FireBee, on large files, I can have 1200 KB/s (uploads) and 500 KB/s (downloads).
So you should update the fruit.

about 1 megabyte/sec.
Some things to consider when benchmarking:
1. Download to /ram so eventual disk issues are avoided
2. Make sure you do the test on the LAN and not through MintNet default gateway.
For some reason that is much slower. It's been like that as far as I can remember.
Try different clients, AFTP, Litchi, commandline ftp.
I bet the commandline program will score the best results by far.
I was put off myself by AFTP 100 kbyte/sec, it did 300 kbyte/sec on both EtherNat and EtherNec.
I really don't want to run GlueSTiK for Litchi and the other STiK/STiNG clients.
So instead I run ftpd (SpareMiNT server, not some STiK stuff) on the Falcon and use the client on the other side: 1 MB/sec.

how to do this?
and what is "MintNet default gateway" anyway?
btw I will try ftpd...
and Litchi 1.2 increase speed dramatically!

Re: SVEthLANa speed?
Default gateway is your gateway to outside of the LAN, for example an internet router.calimero wrote: how to do this?

For some reason, MintNet is severely slowed down over the def-gw compared to copying inside the LAN.
And how to do it? Well just make sure both machines are on the same LAN.
Re: SVEthLANa speed?
@ evil, my Falcon is connected to my internet router via SVEthLANa so I suspect this is the problem I am having as I rarely see speeds about 9 kB/s when downloading in Netsurf.
Could this just be a matter of changing the relevant network addresses in mint.cnf for example?

Friends, just a reminder to keep freemint/mintnet discussions in some freemint subforum. Thanks.
