Yeah, G'day.

I seem to recognise a few names from the olden usenet days. I've been away from the Atari for a bit and have decided, stuff it, I enjoy them too much to ignore them any longer. So I got a RAM card for my TT which has had a measly 2MB RAM for far too long. Now it has 6MB. I also plan to rebuild my towered Falcon/CT2. Battery has died so it'll need a refurb anyway. My day job is in building servers/storage systems so I guess I kinda lost motivation after a bit.

I have bucket loads of machines much to my Wife's disgust, dating back to my first, an 800Xl. I have most machines represented here. ST/FM/E, MegaSTE, TT030, Falcon, 130XE, Lynx, Portfolio, Jag....... all the good stuff. Damn, it feels good to be back into it. Viva la Atari.

Everything I have is junk, to the missus. Went to SG a month or so back and can indeed confirm that a Chinese junk is very different to a CT2 Falcon.

I have to finish fixing an A4000T for a friend, when that's done it will be time to rebuild the CT2-T. Can't wait.....

Longtime lurker emerging from the dark shadows in Sweden!
I've been an Atarian since 1983 when I bought my first computer, a Atari 600XL. Had that one a couple of years til I for a brief moment turned to the dark side and bought myself a Commodore 128. Went back on the right path back in 1987 when an Atari 1040STF arrived at my doorstep.

Today I own a small collection of computers and videogames from late 70's (8-bit era) to mid 90's (Jaguar) which I proudly display in my homeoffice.
I'm also active in a small Swedish comunity which hosts an annual computer and videogames fair called "Retro Gathering".

Hi,

I've just officially re-entered the fantastic world of the Atari STe by just taking delivery of a 520 which I purchased off ebay for just under £40. It came with its original box, and both look in pretty good nick. I'm quite chuffed, although I haven't powered it up yet. I'm collecting a number of vintage computers from the '80s which I used back then, but didn't get to keep for one reason or other. I've now added a Zeddy, Speccy, Memotech MTX500, and now the STe. ) Just a 99 to go.

I'm in IT for my sins, have been for 30 years now, but decided to go retro as they were more fun than the boring PCs nowadays.

Hope to get a chance to talk to you all soon.

Thanks. It all boots just fine FDD is a bit noisy, to be expected really for a 22 year old machine. It all works is the main thing.

Now to take it apart to give it a good clean and upgrade it to 4Meg.

Delvis or Del as I also go by. Started in 1982 with Atari 400 and cassette loader. Worked my way up and down through the 8 bit and into the 16 bit ST.

Ran an Atari BBS and later Atari website. Wrote articles for "My Atari" on-line magazine in early 2000's.

Sold or donated almost all my Atari stuff in 2005. Have been hanging by a thread since then.

Worked last 13 years for the Windows Tablet PC world.

Look forward to refreshing myself back into the Atari world. I have a Mega ST4 now.

Hi, I'm returning to Atari ST which was the machine of my childhood. Last few years I enjoyed emulation on OpenPandora which is awesome for games but timing in MIDI apps is unusable under emulation. So I decided to get an older ST off ebay as my original one dwells somewhere in the closet at my parents flat and I live in different country now. Hope to learn and share here with community which so far seems to be nice as one around OpenPandora.

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. Some background info: My dad was very much into computers and technology when I was growing up. As far back as I remember there were several Ataris in our "computer room". He had a small plane and we used to fly into Atari conventions all over California. One of my earliest memories of gaming is playing Barbarian with my friend and being so excited when you cut someone's head off and the little midget kicked the head. Also Dungeon Master. My dad continued to use his last Atari as a database for customers and contacts for his business up until his last days before he passed away. I don't recall which model it was, but I do know that we had several different ones throughout the years including a couple of Lynxs we'd bring on vacation.

I wasn't sure where to post this next part but I'm attaching a picture of myself sitting on his lap when I was around 3 1/2 years old. I am very curious as to which game we were playing. You can faintly see the screen. The picture is dated February of 1987 so that narrows it down to only games released earlier than that. I'm very bad at forum use and etiquette so if you can think of a better place to post this, please let me know.

maybe it is E.K.O. - I used to play it a lot (beside Barbarian, DM, CarrierCommand... in early days of Atari ST)

Atari world, odds are people knew him.

Generally speaking, most of us like stories about Atari people and what became
