Geneva
Is there anywhere out there where I can get a copy of Geneva? I used it about 5 years ago but can't remember where on Earth I got it from - only that it was damn good...

Re: Geneva
I may be wrong but can't you still buy it from Gribnif? http://www4.pair.com/gribnif/index.htm Might be worth emailing him to see.
Seems a bit pricey for vintage software though..

I got the impression from this thread that they don't support or sell it anymore - or any of the old Gribnif stuff.Zogging Hell wrote:I may be wrong but can't you still buy it from Gribnif? http://www4.pair.com/gribnif/index.htm Might be worth emailing him to see.

seems to be pretty much abandoned which is a shame, it is a very elegant design.

Re: Geneva
That would be a shame, seems you're right though
. Geneva was excellent (I've never bought a copy, but have happened on a few versions during various disk buying activities).

Re: Geneva
I've written to Dan again. He wasn't exactly adverse to the idea of making something happen, but I caught him at a busy time (moving house). Maybe he is settled again now and who knows, he *may* help us.
I can't make any promises, we can only hope for the best. Fingers crossed folks.

Re: Geneva
Plantemu has a few different version of this Geneva available to download:
http://planetemu.net/index.php?section=roms&dat=371
I'm assuming you want it for the ST...
Let me know if this helps

These any use (for now)? Found them in the 'Unsorted apps' folder within the Hang Loose archive.

does he still sale Gribniff software or we can share it?

Re: Geneva
Dan has not responded at all. It's not for me to say whether this stuff can be shared. I guess if he gets in touch and insists we remove it, then that's what we will do.

Re: Geneva
The ZIPs Mug just posted work just fine, so you could just use them for now as well. Hopefully we'll get official word on what the authors position is soon.RetroGamerUK wrote:I've just tried it and it lets me download them from planetemu....nativ wrote:I get 'you aren't allowed to download' on Geneva 4

None. Dan disappeared off the radar. Maybe we treat it as abandoned?

Re: Geneva
I have an original boxed/binder copy of Geneva 1.04 with NeoDesk 4.04 with the entire manual, all serial numbers, etc. A Gribnif catalog inside says Summer 1995. I think I bought it off eBay about 12-15 years ago just to play around with it. It was an impulse buy and I don't think I even got around to installing it. I'll have to play around with it now that I've dug all my Atari stuff out again. If someone wants me to scan the 174 page NeoDesk manual and 180 page Geneva manual, I'd be happy to share the wealth. That is, if I'm not stepping on anybody's toes. If it's abandon-ware, I'd be happy to copy it.
Re: Geneva
For the sake of preservation, I'd say do it. Dan doesn't want to know I think.

Re: Geneva
Ok, I'll go ahead and scan them when I get some free time. If the author complains we can take them down. I'll post a notice when they're done.

Re: Geneva
Great, it would be nice to have the manuals scanned. Hopefully the author won't mind. He doesn't seem to respond anymore.
On the subject of Neodesk, I found this package in a box of software. This is Neodesk 4 but it doesn't come in the binder like my other one and this one also has a developer's kit. Has it been scanned anywhere?

Re: Geneva
This looks like Dan Wilga...
http://drupal.org/user/56892
Couldn't see a contact details though...
I used to speak with him 20 years ago when I supported Geneva and NeoDesk 4 at Compo Software.
If someone else is better placed to speak to him then that's fine, but I do think only one person should contact him.

I've sent Dan Wilga an e-mail tonight, will let you know if anything comes of it.
I did ask for Geneva, NeoDesk4, STalker3 and STeno2!
