I think he's saying £45 is a bit of a markup from the €40 Bernd Thomas (aka Lynxman) originally quoted.

The board cost me £42.50, so I can't see how £2.50 is a massive markup.

Well. Of course as compared to what they originally cost it is.
But the other thing to realise is what AlexH mentioned - the supply & demand.

What I had in mind is the sale is also quick.. same day & less than half the day.
