Retro Gamer Mag: Need Some Help On ST Exclusives!

Hi everyone I have been asked to do an article for Retro Gamer magazine on Atari ST exclusives and I need a little help. I tried searching but I couldn't come up with the exact information I wanted.

This is what I am looking for:

1. Games that only appeared on the ST
2. I only want commercial releases (full price or budget)
3. Name and publisher
4. Year of release if possible
5. System requirements for the game (STe, 1mb etc.)

Thankyou for all your help in advance, I have been pushing for this article for a while now so I am glad its finally going ahead. I have owned a 520STfm since I was a kid so have always been a massive fan of the machine and Atari in general so want to get more Atari love into the mag.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm sure there are a few ST exclusive games, the most well known one would be Dungeon Master, but I'm sure others will chime in with several other titles!

I know of a few like STario Land, Rock N Roll Clams, Ultimate Arena, ST Wars and Zero 5 but need as comprehensive list as possible.

Strangely it seemed to be easy to find a list of games that are not on the Amiga but not ones that are ST exclusive. The few that I did find were full of PD releases.

As we are talking mostly 16 bit this has got to be a good start!

I think there's one on that came from the CPC Northstar and Bumpy from ZX etc...

As I said I only want games that were ST exclusive, as in didn't appear on any other platforms.

I already found that thread and it wasn't much use as it seemed to be mainly talking about games that didn't appear on the Amiga.

A good era for commercial ST only games would be about 1994-1996, that was when publishers of Amiga games stopped doing ST ports and smaller indie companies (Atari enthusists) started to make them. Alien Thing & Hollywood Hustler are two that comes to mind... If you can check out magazines like ST Format since they had reviews of them.

BTW, I loved the Christmas issue that had a feature on the ST...looking forward to this one

A true Atari ST exclusive: Whitewater Madness (1989)

Made in-house by Atari exclusively for the Atari STE. It was never ported to any other platform.

Another good commercial ST game: Substation (1994)

Also, cult fave: OIDS (1987)

Runs on plain STs, was quite successful, and never appeared elsewhere.

There are more of course (RnR Clams & Zero 5 are great and you've already mentioned those) but these were just a few notable ones off the top of my head. I'm looking forward to this upcoming issue! You'd better give a mention to atari-forum.com!

Oids is not Atari ST exclusive.

"Skull-Diggery" is only for ST: http://www.atarilegend.com/games/games_ ... ame_id=274

Also "Midi-Maze" is exclusive unless you consider "Faceball 2000" a port rather than a sequel: http://www.atarilegend.com/games/games_ ... me_id=2216

Many games from Paradox is probably also ST exclusive, i will go thru them later and let you know.

I spent some four hours compiling a list for you. It's all hand picked so there might be errors so please don't take it as a definitive list but a good starting point

Sadly it is not! It did appear on STE first but was ported to Amiga. A shame that version came out and the Falcon one suddenly disappeared.

Many people, including myself, had been asking RG for some time to do an article on ST exclusives and they asked me to write the article for them. Simple really.

There is going to be an upcoming Jaguar article too so maybe you could be of help with that.

In media it's traditionally a paid role, a career!
