German Section
We have a Chat Forum (Fr) and Chat Forum (Eng), but I was wondering if it was a feasible idea to create a Chat Forum (Ger), for our Germanic speaking friends?
The reasoning behind it, is that More Atari's were sold and used in Germany and Austria than anywhere else (I believe). I know we have quite a few Germans and Austrians already here who speak great English, but there are those on the net that can't speak/write English that well. I think it would be great if they had a home of their own. If it's created and becomes successful, we could expand the Deutsch section to include more varied sub forums in a similar vein that we have the English ones.

Re: German Section
No need for this. There is a complete forum in German over at http://www.atari-home.de/ which is almost exclusively in German.

Re: German Section
I suppose what Paul is getting at is yes they already have an all German forum, but we would like some of them to visit here and share there knowledge and resources! Naturally we would prefer the people who can communicate in English, but maybe they already visit here?

Re: German Section
I monitor both forums, and as far as I can tell, those who speak English and want to share their knowledge, already are members here and post actively.
Those who do not speak English, do not get involved (and honestly complain they don't understand anything). I'm sure they won't join for a lone German subsection.

Re: German Section
I think this is one of those situations going back a *long* time when Brume set up these forums. As SSB has pointed out above, there's already an active German-speaking forum so what would be the point in duplication?
If only I'd listened better in school, I'd understand the language a lot more instead of visiting so much to get a decent supply of currywurst

After trying to read German PDFs (PAK 68/3) for the last couple of weeks, I have to say the same for myself...Dal wrote:Yeah my german ought to be better than it is. I should brush up and practise it a little more as its embarrassing!

I posted on atari-home.de in German using Google and that was embarrassing.

That's exactly why I'm leery of the Google translation of the PAK PDF!wongck wrote:I posted on atari-home.de in German using Google and that was embarrassing.![]()

Re: German Section
I totally agree with simonsunnyboy, although both forums focus on different subjects of the Atari scene.
I'm a member of both forums, but personally prefer visiting atari-forum.com as it's more demo scene- and games-related and IMHO the knowledge of the visitors about those topics is on a higher level than at atari-home.de (this is not meant as an insult against atari-home.de-members).

Re: German Section
Hello there,
in case of demo- and game-related knowledge, you might be right. In germany there were lots more "professional" (DTP, Midi, etc.) users than Demo or Game users. If you take a look into the hardware or software section (CT60, Mint, Firebee) the level is quite high.
I share the opinion of SSB. Members, who are interested and able in participating decent discussions in english, are already here.
have fun,
Johannes
