The Ishar games are just doubled so they don't look that hot! A lot of Silmarils titles are compatable with ST High mode, the ones listed here are just ones in GamebaseST so there are probably more from Silmarils.
A lot of games contain intros from the cracking groups and these are not normaly ST High compatable. You must get past these to see the games in this mode.

IIRC when Silmarils games were loaded in Hi-rez, the graphics were dithered, not just pixels doubled. IMHO it gave a pretty nice rendering!Goldrunner wrote:The Ishar games are just doubled so they don't look that hot! Cool topic. I have one ST that is only hooked to a SM124, so then this is a handy list. I tried Starglider from klapauzius.net. But is says 'Colour monitor only"

Hmm, maybe he changed something then - because I can verify that the original StarGlider does workhighlandcattle wrote:Cool topic. I have one ST that is only hooked to a SM124, so then this is a handy list. I tried Starglider from klapauzius.net. But is says 'Colour monitor only"
in monochrome - I've played it a lot on my STacy.

Re: ST High Compatible Games - GBST List
Yeah, that's just my laziness making it require a colour monitor.
My core routines are 'colour only' atm, so it will spit an error message if you try to run it on a mono monitor.
The original of course works in monochrome, and I think ppera's version + all 'classic' cracks as well.
Sometime in the future there will be some serious updating for the earlier releases on my site. That is when I finally receive my CT60 and have (hopefully) mastered it.
Mono mode (if the game was mono compatible originally) is on my list as well.

Another addition to the list of ST high compatible games: Atomix by Thalion
The disk of an original copy of the game comes with a program contained in the AUTO-folder which detects the type of monitor/ resolution and either loads the Thalion intro followed by the colour version of the game or - in case of high resolution - loads the monochrome version (without Thalion intro).
The cracked versions of Atomix only feature colour support.
Here are two screenshots I captured from the monochrome version: Title Screen Highscores

Maybe you just lost colors on your TV

Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

Re: ST High Compatible Games - GBST List
Is the list only about commercial games, or also about freeware and shareware ones? What about monochrome games that have some GEM features like menubar? I assume it's meant to list both, because it contains e.g. Megaroids, but it's lacking a lot of other such games (e.g. classic Ballerburg).Dal wrote:This was on my todo list for a while.

EmuTOS compatibility list coming with Hatari contains several mono/GEM games which aren't on the list:

Re: ST High Compatible Games - GBST List
A game's a game IMHO. Shareware, freeware, beerware, commercial and everything in between is more than welcome.
The list needs to be expanded to include publisher/author for all titles. I've started looking at this.

Thanks for reminding me about that list too. I didn't think about it in the context of mono games.
