After nearly 20 years, will anyone crack Cubase Audio 2.06?

After Jean Pat's April Fool's joke with his "best crack ever", I'm wondering if anyone is actually going to crack Cubase Audio 2.06 AND the ever-important Studio Module? Why is it so hard to crack? Can't the dongle be emulated somehow? What are the challenges involved in doing this? Is it just time consuming? Do we need some kind of 'contest' to get those capable programmers motivated?

If someone can actually crack this baby, would they be willing post it up on a file sharing site?

We do have some Module fixed.. and also There is an Cubase Audio Falcon crack out there..

Im not really Aware of which are the changes from
Cubase Audio Falcon 1.xx -> 2.06.

These cracks is around as far I know:

Caf v1.00 - Elite & Replicants
Caf v1.01 - Bump
Caf v2.b - Bump
Caf v2.03 - Phoenix
Caf 2.06 - Vex & Jean Pat (fool)

I haven't ever seen these for download anywhere on the net. Where is this working studio module crack? If I could get my hands on a full working crack of CAF 2.06 and studio module, I'll be happy to host it for download on a foreign site for everyone. Tis true. The site launches Jan 1, 2010. What you see now is the offline message page directing you to hang out on Facebook in the meantime!

I've spent 6 months just building the template and layouts. Now I'm racing against the clock to get content, downloads, articles, and whatever else to have a big bang start. After Jan 1, I hope the Atari music community will be inspired to contribute their own articles and content to share with others. This will be a great opportunity to show off your Atari music studio, super-stellar hardware hacks, and how-to articles. Over time, I will also keep adding cracks (from abandoned software only) while supporting and promoting legitimate software and hardware developers.

Actually that's only a testament to the fact that no cracker really cares about midi. Also, calling them names such as pirates is a guarantee that noone will attempt to crack it for you.

And of course the real pirate would be you . You'll be the one using the cracked program.

The way I see it you have two options:

a. Be more polite towards the people you expect to do the work for you.
b. Help charles develop his midi app.

You have taken that completely the opposite way to what I meant it.

Firstly I have CuBase Audio, and Score and 3.1 all in legal boxed sets complete with the dongles. I myself have no need for cracked copies of it.

I therefore have no use for a cracked copy of the application, and since the thread is about that, I simply added my point.

I mean absolutely no disrespect in any way shape of form for any hacker / cracker / coder out there... Not one bit of it. I am merely called them pirates in a loving way... Much like the pompey pirates like to called themsevles pirates... Im sure that they wont argue that one out.

And since this whole thread is all about obtaining cracked ( pirated ) copies, your whole answer is a bit misplaced I feel.

I think that whatever you call them, the word used to describe them, can be different and mean different things, and it can be meant lovingly and with warmth, or it can be meant nastily with spite too!

I agree with FatRakoon. On my site, I even created some very elegant pirate flags with the Atari logo in them (you'll see on Jan 1, 2010). When I think of Atari pirates, I think of heroic individuals who are daring and caring enough to help out our community by making the unobtainable, obtainable. Hackers, crackers, coders, or whatever else you can call 'em - they are highly intelligent people. As long as they're not cracking a program that someone is still trying to earn money on, what's the harm? There's also something called "the pirate's code of conduct". In the Atari realm, I've only seen respect from these awesome Atari pirates as they only crack ex-commercial software.

I too have a boxed Cubase Score but I'd still love to see all of the Cubase programs including the Studio Module cracked properly so everyone can enjoy them without spending a fortune on Ebay. Anyone able to crack these awesome programs is deserving of a pirate e-ship shrine and a bottle of e-rum!

Christos is right. No quibbles on that. But then, in a way so am I... At least from my own perspective, and of course, as you agree with me, from yours too.

If Steinberg were losing money on CAF26 then sure, cracking it and supplying it would indeed be wrong, but since they have not supported the atari in over a decade, then I for one, am more than happy to see people out there having a go at cracking it ( and any other non-supported programs ).

I do not see this as piracy in any way at all... I see it as extending the life of a near-dead platform.

+1 from me on that one. I'd be quite tickled if it was modded to run with the Replay 16 cartridge as I would then be able to do MIDI and audio with my STE! Failing that it is a case of bashing my fincances sore with an Ebay Falcon purchase...

Does anyone have the original Cubase Studio Module source disks? Perhaps they can be copied and sent to a programmer who can crack it properly?

All of the CuBase Files can now be freely downloaded from Steinberg themselves...

I did have a look some months ago when a similar subject came up but I could not link to them.

I can however provide copies of the original disks if you need them...

Studio Module was never officially included with Cubase. It was always a separate module. The Steinberg site does not have it either. If you have the original source disks, I'd like copies of them to see if I could supply it to entire any coders to crack it properly.

I recently acquired a Studio Module and CueTrax original disk, but the CueTrax disk has errors. I'll try to run it through the kyroflux but until then does anyone have the contents of either the CueTrax or the StyleTrax discs?

My Studio Module disk is confirmed working with Cubase 3.01 (dongled). It does require the disk be in the drive once in a while so I'll try to see if I can back this up successfully on the kyroflux.

First of all I will say that I have original Cubase Audio and also Cubase Midi and other programs for music.
Secondly, I show my respect to people who have the knowledge to make a crack in original programs, regardless of the nickname applied to them (coder, pirate, cracker ...); I will never do it with bad intentions.
Thirdly I also agree to share all the existing software for Atari, especially since we are orphans for several decades, we do not have support from the old developers. Obviously this does not include the few exceptional developers who still support some programs for Atari, those are not copied and we all want to support them.
Having said all this, I think it is necessary to collect all the music software "pirate" and also all the original (for backups of our old diskettes), because there are widely dispersed sites, unreported sites and sites with broken links.
Providing software and manuals to the community is to extend the life of our machines, beyond of the simple collecting.
Will we be able to do it?
