Although I have had no input so far your work is looking fantastic. The Gamebase interface could do with a facelift and it great that users can choose another more graphically pleasing way to use the database. I beleive the the actual Gamebase engine is still very usable, but have to say that anything that brings the software new appeal is a welcome addition!

Well done Aag :D

Thanks for your comments. I also thought the gemus engine was quite good - hence when I started on the new ui in the first place.

FYI - Version 0.2 is nearing completion.
  • The filters will be complete (apart from the C64 "sid ones"),
an option for saving your chosen 2/3/4th column,
better backgrop handling (meaning that you can tile, as well as centre (and stretch/squash/preserve) the image),
    GB64 compatibility
    a few other bit'n'piece
Oh - and I've also added some "plugins" which allow for links to websites using the game name. Current (agreeded) filters are :-
  • GBAmiga - Links to HOL and Lemon
GBST - Link to Atari legend.
    GB C64 - Link to lemon64.
Hopefully next release should be sometime within the next 3 weeks. (Free time permitting!)

aag, I am amazed at you energy with this and the compilation database. I have for a long time been virtually ignoring your fanatastic efforts because of real life issues. I will be giving your new interface a whirl and giving some feedback, although it will be hard putting up with the boing ball background.

Please keep up the fantastic work!

Actually - the plan was to release GBPlayer 0.5 over the weekend. BUT - whilst updating the screenshots/documentation - I noticed a few bugs!

SO - the next release, for those who are interested, has been pushed back by about 2 weeks - I'll post when the next release is ready.

Thanks

Hi

GBPlayer version 0.5 is now available from http://gbplayer.xiik.net/ - much later than l had planned/hoped for.

(This version is really what the initial release should have been).

The first screenshot from the GBPlayer website really sums up what this new UI to Gamebase is all about.

Main features

Should now support any gamebase database - including c64.
Multi-column selection, in order of preference, and ability to save/database.
Plugin - For GBST, "Atari Legend" website is searched for the currently selected game.
Background images no longer have to be tiled.

The docs on the website have ben updated.

Enjoy!

Feedback welcome - as well as any decent looking "profiles"!

Greetings,
I have been trying to use GBPlayer with my installation of Gamebase, but I have no success getting the screenshots / Music / extras / games to work.
When I launch GBPlayer, I can launch all the gamebases, but aside from the data (game, publishers,notes,...) nothing.
I am sure this is something pretty obvious, but after so many tries, I just need help...
Thanks for any that can be provided,

Loic

Hi - I've sent you a PM.

But can I please check that the screenshots, extras etc all work in "normal" Gambase - ie you've set all the paths, done a "verify" files?
(GamebasePlayer uses the same config/ini files as Gamebase, so if it works in Gamebase then it should work in "GBPlayer".

Thanks
