KeyBoard Clicks
Hi everyone, i am having a problem, i have a CT63/CTPCI. Everything seems to work normal, now the problem comes in when i am at my DeskTop (Mint 1-19-0/Thing 1.29)and When i drag a Window around the screen rapidly i get keyboard click sounds and slight pauses/delay's. When i stop dragging the Window the Keyboard clicks remain clicking until i press a key on the keyboard it goes back to normal. What does this strange problem seem like?

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
I know this problem from my CT63/CTPCI machine, but was suspecting the keyboard/mouse interface (Eiffel). I suspect some timing or signal problem between the keyboard controller and the mainboard, but haven't read about any solution yet. One of the reasons my fully-equipped CT63 hasn't got many working hours...

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
Hi Ektus, i emailed Rodolphe, he suspects it might be ACIA clock, but i checked and clock is ok. When i bought this Falcon Mobo off ebay, someone had removed and poorly replaced this ACIA (keyboard, joystick) chip back in. And looking at this ACIA it looked pretty dinged up, so i went ahead a ordered a new one. So will see if this is culprid. Are you still having this similar issue ektus?Ektus wrote:I know this problem from my CT63/CTPCI machine, but was suspecting the keyboard/mouse interface (Eiffel). Re: KeyBoard Clicks
As I wrote above, I've had this issue since installing the CT63 and haven't bothered yet to investigate further. I've got similar problems with my CT2A falcon, but it mostly helps if I don't move the mouse while the computer is busy downloading E-Mails or some such.
The operation system in use doesn't matter, in my case it's MagiC.

Ektus.

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
I have the same problem on my FireBee. Maybe it's a FireTOS problem?

I have also noticed this problem sporadically. I think Joska may well be onto something.

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
On my FB, I get slow down/laggy window movement when I move the window rapidly.
Especially immediately after bootup. I normally let it run for couple of minutes before using it.
It's was like behaving like Windows 2K, when it starts up loading poo load of bloatware and you just have to let it runs until done.
But no clicking sound.
Sorry cannot recall this on my Falcon/CT63... last time I used it was like few months back.

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
do you guy's think it's software related? I am pretty sure it's hardware related. When i swap motherboards with my other Falcon mobo this problem does not happen!

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
Yes, it's possible that it's a hardware problem. I had a similar problem on my Falcon/Afterburner with a Speed Resolution 36MHz speeder. It turned out that the 500kHz clock from the speeder was broken, so I replaced it with a 32MHz oscillator that was divided to 500kHz with a counter.
It could also be a software problem. See attached archive.

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
On the FB, I suspect it is some sort of timing issue as well.
IIRC, i have replace the mouse with a higher resolution mouse and problem was reduced.
Seems like sampling/tracking of mouse was no in sync. My guess is with a higher resolution it was able report back positions better or FB was able to read better.

The strange thing is, i swapped Falcon motherboards and it doesn't do it on the other Falcon motherboard, so i don't think it's the mouse.wongck wrote:May be you can try it.

Great that you licked the issue.paul92706 wrote: The strange thing is, i swapped Falcon motherboards and it doesn't do it on the other Falcon motherboard, so i don't think it's the mouse.
Different hardware/software issues may produce the same symptom.

Re: KeyBoard Clicks
Hi guy's i swapped out motherboards today, with the good motherboard that didn't give me keyclicks. Now guess what? it's doing the same thing giving me keyboard clicks randomly. This is so strange it wasn't doing this on this motherboard before!. i am now thinking it might be a setting in t he CT63?? this is ridiculous now, now both the motherboards are giving me keyboards clicks randomly in Mint. It suck's because i can't even play ScummVM games, i get multiple keyboards clicks while playing games.

Update: looks like i might of got this working, what i did was i flashed to "CTPCI1GB", and i disabled DMA in the CT60 Config settings under video boot, and wahla! no more keyclicks, Crossing my fingers as of now!
