Milan: looking for the programming cable

Post by patjomki »

Hi,

I have one of the early Milans which unfortunately suffers from the SCSI bug. Does anyone have the (out of stock) programming cable for the Milan which is necessary to get rid of the bug?

I have a Lattice programmer, haven't looked yet into a cable, think the instructions are still out there.
Same boat, early Milan with SCSI bug :)
It's been a long time since having time with this machine

Just for information:

This week I got a milan programming cable. :D

I think it will unfortunately take some weeks until I find enough time to upgrade my milan but after that I can lend out the cable to anyone interested.

Still try to find out what to do exactly to update the milan.

With the cable there came update files that are newer than the ones on Ingo's website and they came with a different flash program as well so perhaps someone knows what the latest update files and the best programs for upgrading are?

Had time to work on the Milan?
Was reading just today about replacing the 74ACT157 beneath the CPU.
It's a tight working area. On the German Atari forum, there are recent post for Milan.

Sorry for replying so late but it took a while until I found the time to update the Milan.

Now my Milan is flashed to the latest core.

Although the machine hasn't been updated with the update cable but from someone who owns a Xilinx development environment.

I still own the update cable though.

Hi patjomki,
That's great news!
I have a Xilinx USB setup, but don't know the procedure.
Is it possible to document the connections and software and used?
This is something I've not tried to do in all the years with the Milan.

I think this might be possible but please give me some time (weeks) as I have to ask how it was done and then to write a tutorial.

Sorry to disappoint you but I asked for a tutorial. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding. There is a Lattice programming environment necessary and not a Xilinx one (because the milan has got lattice chips and no xilinx chips). Sorry for that mistake.

The lattice programming environment isn't available any longer. Private persons can't download it and there won't be any new licences for private persons as well.

But if you have a lattice programming environment I can ask for a tutorial. Please keep us informed.

I have some PCBs for that parallel port to JTAG adapter (schematics from Ingo's webpage) available. With/without components. But didn't have any time/mood to check it out yet. What programming environment is needed? ispLEVER?

Apologies, to many Atari strewn about :)

Have the Lattice programmer, not real sure of the environment, or if a CD came with it.
I'll look at the licensing use option here in the US. It breaks out like the Xilinx. That was the connection guide I didn't have.

Afraid I'm not much help with a JTAG/Parallel connection. I'd have to go back to his archive site and reread.

Thanks!
