FB Q1/2019 News @ firebee.org

Post by wongck »

I just found out about this nice piece of news - already 3 months old. 8O
No one to blame really, just me very long I have not looked at the FB NEWS pages.
http://firebee.org/fb-bin/news?action=f ... N&offset=0

The LED lights and what it means is really useful, previously I do not know what they are and just when it stops blinking I need to reboot. .

However, does anyone know what it means with the 2nd bullet point - "look and feel" ? Is it a new design box or what?

The 4th bullet point - very interesting - improvement on FPGA and FireTOS.
I wonder what are they - faster IDE speed? Faster Video?
WOW it would be great !!!
Any idea when these will be out to the general public ?? :D

Yeap, the brand new FB from the latest ( 2nd ) batch.
As for the question on the latest software, I do not know, but I'm guessing that it should have the latest software. I bought it with the 32GB CF card which is preinstalled with quite some nice stuff needed for nice start. I even connected network cable and I could go on the network through Netsurf without any hassle.
But I played about 30 minutes with it and decided ( well, it was decided even before FB came :) ) that I want full blown Unix environment, so on my spare CF card I'm copying all the needed files ( NVDI installation, EasyMiNT 1.90 installation ... ) and during weekend I will put this CF into FB and try to install it all. So right now I'm just having fun setting this all up :)

Edit:
And I have a quite an issue with this new toy. It still does not have its own place. I use it temporarily switching it to my main PC monitor and using its keyboard and mouse, but I have to come up with a permanent place for FB and I guess it will not be easy.

I'm in same boat - I ended up putting it in my office to find ways to incorporate it into my workflow and actually put it to use...

LOL.... I have been switching my LCD/VDU between PC & Atari ever since I got my 1st falcon back in 90s. A KVM does wonders :D
