Driver for CF and SD card
Hi all,
I have questions about the CF and SD card driver. I know the driver is built into Firetos and EmuTos and this is how cards are recognized. In my Firebee I have a 32 GB CF card. There are two partitions, the first partitions are C: \ 2GB and D: \ 30GB.
I have several 256 MB, 512 MB, and 8GB SD cards there are small partitions on the Hddriver as TOS & Windows compatibily for transferring data between PC and ATARI and used on STE and Ultrasatan. The system is visible as drives A: \.
The second question concerns HDDriver, I use this program as a driver on my other computers.
Is HDDrivera working on firebee?
I also have an 8GB card that I would like to divide accordingly, but this is a weird HDDUTILS (it's just a 450MB partition (see screen shot) but you can not do anything about it.
Should this card be prepared only on the PC and what partitions to set up. Only one partition on SD card will be visible ?
Thank you in advance for any help

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
Since the drivers are all already inside FireTos, I do not use any other drivers at all.
There is no hhdriver nor Pperdriver nor BigDos nor AHDI on my FireBee.
For new CF preparation, I use linux ( liveCD on USB as my main computer OS is actually Windows).
Gparted is the tool I use.
I think only linux and not on Windows as you see Windows only do single partition ( because Microslop decide to dumb you like that).

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
I dont use any driver on my FireBee as all is built into FireTOS, EmuTOS.
SD card is replacement for the floppy drive so you can have only one partition on it (A:). I guess size is limited to 2GB but you should check that if this is true!

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
I have just using Mini Tool Partition Wizard on Windows and test 8GB SD card
I split this card into 3 partitions 2x2GB with FAT16 and 4GB FAT32. The maximum size of FAT16 for firebee is 2GB and is also visible under TOS. Under MiNT they are visible as a drive A: \ other drives E: \ and F: \
I think that is OK Is it true ?

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
I am suprised you see other partitions of SD card, but if you see them then this is great

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
Wow... great find !!
I did not know that extra partitions on the drive A: after the 1st partition will show up as drives after C:
Is it stable ?

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
I have just tested for example copies a lot files from C:\ to E\ (about 50 MB datas using KKcammander) or to partition F:\ 150MB (directly using dekstop Thing) and I think everything it os OK< I try to run application netsurf or others and I do not see anything disturbing at the moment
I will inform you everything.

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
Great!
So in theory it would be possible to run everything just from big SD card, without CF.
It would be slow but working

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
You can make a large ZIP file copy from A: to your CF and then copy back to A:.
Take over to your windows/Mac computer and do a ZIP CRC check... this will catch any data corruption.
I think the CF / IDE ports are faster than SD port. But I may be wrong.

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
I did as you wrote, I created a large ZIP file of about 70 MB on the PC, copied it to CF partitions on firebee via network, then SD, unpacked this file on the SD card partition and again on the CF card and on the PC checked the CRC and everything is OK.
You have the absolute right to copy this file from the CF card to SD more than 3 minutes and I think that in fact the SD card is much slower than C.
Is it normal ?

Re: Driver for CF and SD card
You could of course also start to read support articles we wrote and translated. Regarding the SD-Card this one for example:
http://firebee.org/fb-bin/page?label=fb_sd_card&lng=EN

http://firebee.org/fb-bin/page?label=fb_sd_card&lng=EN

MegaST 4 with Sounddesigner II MegaBus hardware and 56001, Hades 040, MagiC Mac at Mac OS 9 and a FireBee.
Re: Driver for CF and SD card
Matias: thank you very much, I have not read and I did not know about your article before
Do you know any program for testing read and write speed eg RateHD from ICD driver on Atari TT / Falcon

Nice.
so further improve and speed up are coming with true SD mode.
