Atari haul from university

Post by Bengy »

Was finally able to rescue a room full of Atari treasure that was used by my dad at his university... the lot includes 2 ST books (!!), a falcon (!), many mega’s, stfm’s etc. can’t wait to get this all set up. Plus I now have a classic keyboard and mouse I can use on my new firebee. Great to use Atari again.

Holy crap. I can't even imagine getting that stuff up and running. it'd be an Atarian's dream to have a Falcon, ST Books (plural) but a pile of Mega ST's.... wow!!!

Commodore: SX64, A500 (68030), A500+, A2000 (Vampire), A2000 (68030), A1200 (68030)

It also looks as if there's a SUN Sparc Classic in there too.
When I was at University a maths lecturer used an early 520ST to print documents on an Atari laser printer. I think it might have even been a printer server for his office. Probably they had a budget and a ST would have been much cheaper than a PC or Apple Macintosh at that time.
Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, MegaST 2, 520STFM (x2), 2.5Mb STF, Atari 2600JR, Flashback 8 Gold.
Hardware: PC720B, Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

I see a Sun SPARCstation IPC/IPC/Classic in there as well, with some external SCSI drives.

Good eye! Lots of external drives (Zip drives, flopticals, disk drives, mega drives, etc). Can’t wait to explore the software on all the hard disks

‘‘Twas the engineering department. Most of it like the falcon and st books were most likely from my dads personal collection, but the STs were used in lab settings.. aka one of them has a piece of plywood attached with an eprom developer kit attached. I’ll take more pics when I get a chance!

Is there any possibilities to share software with us ?
Specially if you find some rare or interesting software - databases, spreadsheets, editors etc..maybe versions of existing apps we don't have:-)

BTW, really nice found:-)
ST Book was (is) my dream, but...too pricey for me...

Cheers!

Of course! I'm sure their will be a treasure trove of rare software once I have time to dig in.

Here's the EPROM programmer that was attached to one of the ST's that was used in the engineering lab

Will do. Of course I always dreamed of having ST Book(s) so they aren't for sale, but they've found a good home!

Now, THAT makes me happy! An owner that appreciates them and that hopefully will use them!

Thank you. Nothing makes ME as happy as having them in my family!! PS I still remember being blown away by Willie's Adventures on my original falcon about 2 decades ago. Big fan!

Thanks! It's a pity that we never managed to release it. More information about Willie's Adventures may make it into the book "The Atari ST and the Creative People", Volume 3. :-)

What caught my eye was the fact that this was in the US...or at least all the machines have a US keyboard. The only big Atari ST hauls from university that I usually see are in Europe. I wonder what university this is?

Wow... not one but two ST books. That's an incredible find. Who is POLY and why did they solder their name into the front of the MEGAFILE cases? lol

I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the ST Books.,..
