Collection of old ST pictures
Hello.
I have collected a bunch of older Atari ST pictures and converted them to PNG. I thought maybe you guys would be interested in them. They can be found at http://alicja.dyns.cx/~mats/images/Atari%20ST/.

Yes, thanks, that's all fine and dandy, but I'm mostly interested in older stuff.
Re: Collection of old ST pictures
both Pouet and dhs.nu archives go back to the STart of the ST... not sure how much further back you want to go?
I was meaning that your images could be added to the archive if not already present.
cheers

Well, let's say that I'm not as interested in the so called "scene" stuff as the more "normal" artwork by individuals. Check out my site and you will know what kind I'm talking about. I'm afraid I'm too old for this forum

Re: Collection of old ST pictures
Stuff by Exocet, Alive cover pictures etc surely are "scene" stuff - and most are certainly not old.

Those are exceptions from the rule
I kept them because I somehow liked them.

Thanks for the uploads MatsP!
I found this directory to be particularly interesting:
http://alicja.dyns.cx/~mats/images/Atari%20ST/Masuda/
I haven't seen those before.

You're welcome bullis1! Regarding the original ST files, I haven't kept them, and it would be a hell of a job to track them down again. I don't find it particularly meaningful to keep them anyway, except for really nostalgic reasons perhaps. Your mileage may vary...

Re: Collection of old ST pictures
If the pictures are true 16 color PNG or GIF pictures, you can simply convert them back to Atari formats with some tools. Grafx2 will do it easily, although not batch wise. But it is otherwise a great pixel tool on its own which loads and saves common Atari formats such as Degas and Neochrome.

No file has more than 16 colors, that's for sure. And sorry FedePede04, I get your point though.

Re: Collection of old ST pictures
i had a little time so i decided to make a converter for the png files, and in the process i found that it is not so easy (impossibly) to convert them back to original, due to several reasons.
when you export them to png files, you convert the picture to a true color picture, and losing the palette information, so when you convert them back, the palette will be in a random order, that is ok if you only want to view them, but sometime you only use eg. 12 colors so you will have a lest 4 black, so if color 0 is black and color 15 is black and yoiu load it in to Degas you wont see anything.
furthermore if the picture contain color (cycle) animations, those information will also be lost.
there for it could have been so nice, with the original files, but i will try to find some else where, but Thanks again MatsP for sharing those picture
Here is a couple i have converted back, the gfx have been relocate, so the color is in order, (i don't know if it is the right order.)
They are in Degas Elite compress format.
