couple of new STOS demoscreens

Hi all,

Been messing with new effects in STOS recently. Here's a couple of new little intros, with effects that I don't think have been done in STOS before - hope that you like them.

And yes, before anyone asks, they do use a sprinkling of assembly to speed some stuff up . The guts and heart of these are STOS, though!!

<3 that feedback is awesome. You know, when I was making these, I was kind of struck all of a sudden with a "why the hell am I not writing just in ASM?" feeling of shame. But then I realised that by making them this way, I'm able to get away with shitty approximations of other people's work

I have a couple more things up my sleeve...

Ive got confirmed at at least one atari ste will be at the party place to show the demos on the real hardware during the compos!

Ace demos Thomas! PAL.TOS is a fantastic effect. There is a similar plasma effect on an Amiga demo using rambo.mod maybe by The Silents.
That would be a super effect to convert to STOS.

FIRE.TOS looks good too.
I never thought to block up that effect.
It's good to see that font again put to good use.

I wasn't so fond of FIRE.TOS, but I really like PAL.TOS. I think its plasma effect looks much nicer and both its scroll text and music are more to my liking.

(Both work fine from Hatari GEMDOS HD, so they don't need disk image, zip would be fine too.)

However, FIRE.TOS doesn't seem to work properly with EmuTOS. With that, only the scroll text is visible, not the fire effect.

Answer to your question in PAL.TOS is that ....well nevermind
Don't ask why, but what and how !
I, for a GFA basic user would say that effects are great, but your screens are lame (flame war muhahahahahaha )
Never went into STOS but, it's some shell for ASM routines, so your screens should be better for sure
For me, as i didn't know asm, i went into STE which proved to enable GFA basic to achieve quite cool stuff (easily confering to pouet comments)
Maybe you could give it a go (STE), and do even better
I bet you have the ATARI ST love, that's so great, go on, keep on , procrastinate the rest

Although, if I had thought anyone would actually look at these, I would have put some more effort in to their presentation, and probably not released the fire one at all

@tomchi - as for the relative merits of STOS versus GFA... Of course STOS is worse!! Its command handling is insanely slow, and you can't use interrupts without writing yourself an extension or including assembly! I only persist with it due to perversity and nostalgia... I love your demo though. That rotozoom is as impressive af.

Dude - I've had a really crazy idea to take this further.

What about two separate STE demos that sync over midi?? One STOS, one GFA. So it'd run on TWO STEs side by side! And obviously the demos would interact... and have the duelling banjos theme, synchronised between the two!!

I'm legitimately down for this!
