Announcement: GEMLIB for AHCC

Post by m0n0 »

GEMLIB for AHCC

- m68k-020 and coldfire compatible binary
- compiled for 32bit

Gemlib is the glue layer between applications and the low-level AES interface. It is the de facto standard for GEM applications developed with GCC. Now you can build all the software which requieres a more or less recent GEMLIB (For example cflib) with AHCC.

Thanks for using it ;)

I've updated the Download:

http://freeshell.de/~monokrom/geeklog/d ... hcc_latest

Now the archive contains the plain 68000 version of the lib, too (gem.lib).

Also the patch folder inside the archive is updated, so that everything which is required for a plain 68000 build, should be available.

Thanks for the new version.
I noticed that the plain 68k lib has about 2kb size savings. Aside from that are there other benefits of using the plain 68k lib on 68000 machines? Maybe small CPU savings since the lib no longer has to test for what machine it's running on? I have no complaints I'm simply trying to educate myself.

Yes, it's the only lib which will work on plain m68k. The other lib contains code which can only be executed by 68020 / coldfire.

Ah thanks. I had misinterpreted "m68k-020" to mean "68000 -to- 68020" but now I see how wrong I was :D
