data from fnt file and merge into system font file

Post by charles »

ok
have a Cubase file which loads up in a .fnt editor program....
but is not a .FNT file ...
file=4698 bytes

and I have some other files which are .FNT files

as u probally deduced I want to use new fonts by replacing the data in the 4698 file with data from a .FNT file
..
where can I start finding out about fonts ...

ive got the compendium reading says .fnt format header 88bytes
but when I merge files (from past the 88 bytes)
, its still all scrambled......

You can take a look at http://tho-otto.de/download/gemfedit-1.0.2-src.zip. Its a simple Font editor & viewer, with binaries & sources.

Perhaps an 88 byte header means GDOS font. Read and interpret the header otherwise the outcome is likely to be garbage.

Do you have a document that describes the cubase file (cubafnt.sys) format?

I highly doubt that Steinberg would document and then release to public such propriety data ,
we could be the first to create such ...its possable!!!

I need to learn how each font is represented in the font header ,,I thought they were all plotted on a 16*16 grid however few have their own properties .

That is just a normal gdos font, and can be displayed with the tools linked above.

Aha, it looked somewhat familiar in the hex editor. Thanks for clearing that up. Renamed it *.fnt and now zview loads it. Cheers.
